But the official sources available do not give the Tier 3 release date or confirm when each other function reached Tier 3. There is no verified date to give for a Tier 3 Omni-Hammer unlock.
What the official updates confirm
Obsidian’s Patch 0.5.0.5, dated September 2, 2026, changed the Tier 4 Omni-Axe recipe and directs players to the intended O.G.R.R. Toe Biter Leviathan encounter for that upgrade. This confirms Axe progression beyond Tier 3 by that patch. It does not establish when Tier 3 first arrived or show that every Omni-Tool function received its Tier 3 upgrade at the same time.

For the Hammer, Shovel, Wrench, or another function, the reviewed official updates do not provide a sourced Tier 3 availability date. Treat claims about a particular function’s unlock as unconfirmed unless an official patch note or the current in-game upgrade menu explicitly verifies it.
Why there is no precise Tier 3 date
Obsidian’s Grounded 2 roadmap is an official source, but its entries were not visible in the retrieved page text, so it cannot substantiate a date here. Obsidian’s January 27, 2026 Toxic Tangle announcement points players to an updated roadmap but does not state a Tier 3 Omni-Tool date in the announcement itself.

Likewise, the Xbox Wire announcement for Into the Abyss confirms the update’s August 11, 2026 release and describes Grounded 2’s availability, but it does not set a Tier 3 schedule. The announcement lists Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC, Early Access on Steam, PlayStation 5, and access through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

Obsidian’s June 17, 2026 Patch 0.4.2 note described the Omni-Tool one-hitting resources that regrow only through player-built structures, with that behavior due to return in update 0.5 on August 11. That is a gathering-behavior change, not evidence of a Tier 3 upgrade date.
