There is no reliable evidence that Walmart is continuing to cancel Nintendo Switch 2 preorders because customers ask support questions. Reports document disruption during the April 2025 preorder launch, and one customer later described a cancellation after calling Walmart—but that single account does not establish a pattern or prove the call caused the cancellation.
What the available evidence shows
The claim needs a distinction between a reported sequence of events and a confirmed cause. A customer saying an order was canceled after contacting Walmart is evidence of that person’s account; on its own, it does not show that the support call triggered the cancellation.

Launch-period cancellations in April 2025
On April 24, 2025, the Associated Press reported that Switch 2 preorders in the United States had begun amid high demand. Some customers described errors, empty carts, and cancellation notices. Walmart told AP that “the excitement around this online preorder was incredible” and that its listings “sold out quickly due to high demand.” Those comments addressed the preorder launch, not whether later support calls led to cancellations. One customer account is not proof of a continuing practice
A Reddit post describes an order being canceled after its author called Walmart Customer Service for help with a Switch 2 preorder. It is an individual, unverified account; the post does not establish why the order was canceled or show that this is a continuing pattern. View the Reddit post.

The available evidence therefore does not verify the headline’s claim of ongoing cancellations for asking support questions. It also does not establish a cancellation rate tied to support contact.
Reasons Walmart lists for canceling orders
Walmart’s general canceled-orders guidance gives several possible reasons. It does not list contacting customer support as a cause, and it is not specific to Switch 2 preorders. Walmart’s Canceled Orders help page identifies these possibilities:

- An order exceeds a quantity limit.
- An item is out of stock or its listing contains an error.
- Walmart’s Credit and Fraud Avoidance department needs more information.
- A carrier or shipping option is unavailable.
- The customer uses an older browser or app version that is not supported.
Walmart says it will email customers if an order is canceled or if more information is needed. It also says, “If we cancel your order, we won’t charge you.” A temporary card authorization may still appear; Walmart says the customer’s bank handles its removal according to the bank’s procedures. A pending authorization is not, by itself, proof that a charge was completed.
What to do if your preorder is canceled
- Check the order and email. Sign in to Walmart and review the order status. Check the email associated with the account for a cancellation notice or a request for additional information.
- Contact Walmart if the status is unclear. Walmart offers online chat through its Help Center. Its published customer service number is 1-800-925-6278.
- Ask what happened to this order. Have the order details available and ask whether Walmart recorded a cancellation reason or needs information from you. The published guidance does not promise that support can reinstate a canceled preorder.
- Check whether a card entry is pending or completed. If Walmart canceled the order but a temporary authorization remains, ask your bank how it releases pending holds. Walmart says the timing follows the bank’s procedures.
Keep Walmart’s process separate from Nintendo’s eShop rules
Nintendo’s support page about preorder cancellations concerns digital software preordered through the Nintendo eShop. It discusses issues such as payment failure, account eligibility, deleted tax information, age-rating changes, and server errors. Nintendo Co., Ltd. scheduled a change to the U.S. Switch 2 manufacturer suggested retail price for September 1, 2026: $449.99 to $499.99, excluding tax. This is dated MSRP context, not a Walmart price or proof that any retailer has stock. The cited sources do not confirm current availability at Walmart, Amazon, or another seller.
