Yes, but only through routes you qualify for. Eligible creators can sell compliant avatar items on Roblox’s Marketplace. Players can resell only certain Limited items they own, under separate membership, holding-period, and regional rules. Creator Store assets and physical merchandise follow different rules again, and Robux proceeds are not automatically cash.

This article focuses on avatar Marketplace sales and Limited resale, the two routes most players mean by “selling items.” Roblox’s Marketplace overview distinguishes the Marketplace from other creator activity.
How to sell an avatar item you made
Roblox permits eligible creators to make and list avatar items, but uploading does not guarantee approval, a sale, or a payout. The item must pass moderation and comply with the Marketplace policy and Roblox Community Standards. Roblox Support’s rule is direct: “Only sell items you made yourself, or items you have permission to sell.”
Meet the publishing requirements
Roblox Creator Hub’s current guidance requires identity verification or a linked parental account. Publishing also requires two-step verification and an owner-level Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 membership for the individual creator or group owner. These conditions apply to publishing avatar items; they should not be confused with the separate membership rule for reselling Limiteds. Check Roblox’s Marketplace policy for current eligibility details.

Create, submit, and list the item
- Create an asset: make the item in a 3D art program such as Blender, then bring it into Roblox Studio. Roblox supports eligible avatar categories including clothing, accessories, bodies, and other avatar assets; exact asset types and technical standards are set in its current Marketplace documentation.
- Submit it for review: follow the current technical and policy requirements. Roblox reviews submissions, and an item must be approved before it can be listed.
- Check the charges and set up the listing: upload fees and publishing advances vary with asset type and options. Use the current fee and commission schedule for the specific asset before submitting or publishing.
Roblox says rejected assets generally do not receive an upload-fee refund; publishing advances are described as refundable. The charges are separate, so do not treat an advance as the same thing as an upload fee.
Can you resell an item you bought?
Yes, but resale is limited to eligible Limited and Limited U items that you own. Roblox Support states: “Only Limited and Limited U items can be resold.” Ordinary inventory items do not become resellable just because you bought them.

- After a sale, Robux proceeds may initially appear as pending.
- Regional restrictions apply. Roblox’s support guidance identifies Japan and South Korea as having specific restrictions; Creator Hub additionally says resale of community-created Limiteds is unavailable to accounts based in Japan. Check the current rules for your account location before purchasing with resale in mind.
Roblox treats selling and trading as different activities: selling lists an item for Robux for another player to buy, while trading swaps items. Resale transaction splits and eligibility can depend on the item and context. Roblox Creator Hub’s fee documentation describes a 10% commission to the original creator for eligible community-created Limited resales; consult the current fees and commissions page and resale help page for the applicable details.
What fees and Robux shares apply?
Creator charges and proceeds depend on the asset type and transaction route. Roblox’s Creator Hub fee page lists these policy values and examples; figures can change, so check the linked schedule before listing.

The 80 Robux upload fee, revenue-share examples, 30-day escrow period, and resale commission are Roblox policy figures, not independent estimates. Roblox does not display a publication year for these Creator Hub figures, and its fee schedule may change. Verify the current Marketplace fees and commissions page for the asset and sale type.
Can you turn sales proceeds into cash?
Not automatically. Robux from a sale is not necessarily cash-eligible. Roblox’s Earned Robux and DevEx guidance says that only qualifying Earned Robux can be exchanged through DevEx by creators who meet the program’s requirements. Robux bought directly, received through a gift card or membership grant, and proceeds from selling or trading items you did not create are excluded from Earned Robux under that guidance.

Physical merchandise is not sold through the standard avatar Marketplace. Some developers with Roblox Commerce privileges may sell physical products through authorized Shopify stores, subject to separate eligibility, listing, and legal standards.
