In the Gestral Village Arena tournament, the character who defeats the final opponent, The Stranger, receives that character’s weapon: Gustave gets Sakaram, Lune gets Trebuchim, Maelle gets Medalum, and Sciel gets Hevason. The tournament has four one-on-one rounds, and the party is healed after each fight. The tournament guide says the champion is determined by who wins the final duel—not by who fought every round.

Choose a fighter for each of the tournament’s four one-on-one rounds. The character who defeats The Stranger in the last round is the one tied to the weapon reward; you do not need to use the same character throughout the tournament. Your party is healed after each fight, according to the Gestral Village tournament guide.

How to choose your champion
Check your inventory before committing to a final fighter. The tournament guide notes that Gustave and Lune can already have Sakaram and Trebuchim, respectively, from the Ancient Sanctuary. If you own the corresponding weapon, winning with that character may give you an upgraded version rather than a new weapon.
- Want a weapon you may not already have? The guide recommends Maelle as the champion for Medalum; confirm your inventory first.
- Already have Sakaram or Trebuchim? Gustave or Lune may still be worthwhile if you want the upgraded version, but the result depends on whether you own the relevant weapon.
- Want to choose based on weapon strength? The available guides do not establish a quantitative ranking, so they do not support calling one reward universally strongest.
The same guide says a later duel against Golgra can award the selected character a higher-level version of the tournament weapon. Treat that as guide advice rather than a guarantee independent of your game state.

Gestral Village Arena vs. Hidden Gestral Arena
These are separate activities with different rewards. The Gestral Village Arena is the story tournament that awards a character-specific weapon. The Hidden Gestral Arena is a separate series of solo fights that awards Pictos, not those weapons.

GameTrek’s Hidden Gestral Arena guide says losing does not remove rewards and that fighters can be challenged again. A separate Expedition 33 side-quest guide also describes the village tournament’s character choice and its Maelle and Lune weapon rewards.
