The company described a game in which players train AI-powered fighters that then battle autonomously. Its announcement also outlined plans for a free-to-play game and a web3 version with rewards, but those 2024 plans do not establish whether the game is available now.
What is AI Arena?
AI Arena is a player-versus-player fighting game built around training AI-powered characters. Players teach their fighters how to battle; the characters then fight autonomously against opponents. ArenaX presented the game as a way to learn about AI through play, rather than requiring players to write code.
That educational benefit is the company’s framing, not a measured outcome. CEO Brandon Da Silva described it as a way for people without advanced technical expertise to engage with AI, while Framework Ventures co-founder Michael Anderson said the team’s products encouraged consumers to learn to train AI through play. GamesBeat quoted co-founder Wei Xie arguing that interacting with interfaces such as ChatGPT or Midjourney is not the same as understanding AI, and that games could offer a more engaging route to that understanding. How much did ArenaX raise, and who invested?
ArenaX Labs announced a $6 million round led by Framework Ventures on January 9, 2024. The company also named SevenX Ventures, FunPlus / Xterio, and Moore Strategic Ventures as investors. ArenaX’s announcement, distributed via PR Newswire, gives the public announcement date; law firm Osler’s financing record says the round closed on January 12, 2024. Those are different milestones, not conflicting round amounts.

What will the $6 million fund?
ArenaX said the proceeds would further develop AI Arena. The announcement did not break the funding down by development area or provide a more detailed spending plan, so it does not support claims about specific features, staffing, or launch costs being funded.
What did ArenaX say about access and launch?
In January 2024, ArenaX said AI Arena would require no coding and be free to play. It also described a web3 version in which players could compete for rewards, and said a beta launch on Arbitrum mainnet was planned for early 2024. These were plans announced at the time. The announcement does not confirm whether the beta launched as planned, whether the game remains available, or what access and reward terms apply today.

How does the 2024 round fit ArenaX’s funding history?
ArenaX had previously announced a $5 million seed round in 2021 to accelerate development of AI Arena, which it then described as an Ethereum-native game. That earlier financing is separate from the $6 million round announced in 2024. The company’s 2021 post describes the seed financing.
