In vanilla Arma Reforger, there is no need to rely on a live coordinate overlay: open your map, orient it with the compass, and match nearby landmarks and terrain to the map. Start with an obvious feature such as a coastline, road junction, settlement, or hill shape; then use a second landmark to narrow down where you are.
Find your position with the map and landmarks
- Open the map. Check its legend and look for named places or map features near your general area.
- Orient yourself. Use the compass alongside the map so the directions on the map correspond to the landscape around you. Bohemia Interactive describes navigation on Everon and Arland as using a paper map, compass, and protractor in its Boot Camp resource.
- Match distinctive features. Compare the terrain you can see with coastlines, road bends and intersections, buildings, water, and prominent hills or ridgelines. A stretch of generic forest is difficult to identify by itself; a road meeting a shoreline or a settlement beneath a distinctive hill is more useful.
- Use more than one landmark. Find two recognizable features and compare their positions relative to one another and to your character. The arrangement helps distinguish between nearby areas that share similar terrain.
The compass shortcut listed in the official 1.0 release notes is K on keyboard or DPad Up Hold on controller. Bindings can change or be remapped, so check Settings > Controls in your current game if that shortcut does not work. Official 1.0 release notes.
Read a grid reference when you need to report coordinates
When using grid coordinates, read the horizontal component first, then the vertical component: right, then up (eastings, then northings). Community land-navigation guidance describes four-, six-, and eight-digit references as progressively finer grid precision. The number of digits indicates the level of detail in the reference; do not assume every server or interface offers the same coordinate display. Community land-navigation guidance.
Optional Workshop mods for coordinate help
If manual landmark matching is not enough, Workshop mods may provide a more direct display. They are not vanilla features, and availability or permission can depend on the current game build and server.

| Option | What it provides | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Vanilla map and compass | Map orientation and landmark-based position finding; you identify your location from the surrounding landscape. | No mod required. Check your current key binding under Settings > Controls. |
| Simple GPS | The Workshop listing describes a live map with roads, water, contours, markers, bearing, and a six-figure grid. | The listing says to take the item from an arsenal and place it in the GPS slot. It documents keyboard and controller actions and says keys can be rebound in Settings > Controls. Confirm that the mod is compatible with your build and permitted on your server. |
| Map Cursor Coordinates Display | The listing says it shows coordinates next to the map cursor. | The listing identifies version 1.0.0 and game version 1.2.0.124, and gives a last-modified date of 2024-11-15. Those listing details do not establish compatibility with a later live build; check the current listing and server rules. |
Use bearings for a more systematic fix
If you can identify known points but still need to narrow your position, take compass bearings to those points and plot their back azimuths on the map. Where the lines cross provides an approximate fix; a third known point can help refine it. This resection method is optional—the simpler approach of comparing multiple visible landmarks is usually the right place to start. The community navigation guide describes the bearing method.
