An Armored Core 6 fan has reportedly started building a substantial unofficial expansion called Frontier F after waiting for news of new official downloadable content. The project is presented as a community-made mod or fan expansion—not a FromSoftware release—and its public availability has not been verified.
What Frontier F is
Frontier F is the name attached to a fan-made Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon project described in an OpenGames report. Screenshots and descriptions point to new-looking combat environments and Armored Core units, suggesting an effort larger than a cosmetic tweak. The available report does not establish that the project is finished, publicly downloadable or supported by a particular platform.

The “tired of waiting” angle reflects the absence of confirmed news about a traditional post-launch expansion. It does not prove that FromSoftware has cancelled downloadable content or that an official expansion can never happen.

Why Armored Core 6 suits fan expansions
Armored Core VI is built around assembling a machine from interchangeable parts. In an official Xbox Wire preview, director Masaru Yamamura said the team wanted to create “a new mech action game as a product of what the current day FromSoftware can output,” drawing on the studio’s recent experience. The same preview explains that parts affect both machine parameters and the feel of the action.
#1 Best Overall
- Thrilling Boss Battles – Deploy a wide variety of offensive and defensive tactics at close and long range to take down powerful enemy bosses.
- Dynamic, Omni-directional Battles – Pilot your mech in fast-paced, omni-directional battles, taking advantage of your mech’s mobility both on land and in the air to ensure victory.
- Customise Your Mech to Your Playstyle – Explore a breadth of playstyles and combat styles by customising your mech’s buildout between missions. Pick and equip your preferred parts via a robust customisation system that can dramatically alter your play strategy, manoeuvrability and battle style as the action intensifies.
That structure gives creators several natural ways to extend the game: new missions can test different builds, environments can change how players approach combat, and new enemy or player units can create fresh assembly problems. A fan project can therefore add content while preserving the central loop of choosing parts, tuning a machine and adapting it to a fight.
An interview with producer Yasunori Ogura and Yamamura also discusses the franchise’s long gap and the assembly system. That background explains why the community is interested in making new AC6 experiences, but it is not an announcement of current or future DLC plans.
Rank #2
- A new action experience from the makers of Dark Souls and Elden Ring
- Assemble and pilot your own mech
- 3D manoeuvrability to move freely through three-dimensional fast-paced missions
- Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions. DLC might not work properly unless proper region is selected.
Frontier F is part of a wider modding scene
Frontier F is not the only substantial community effort around the game. The Aftermath developer blog describes itself as a monthly development blog for an Armored Core 6 overhaul mod, demonstrating that ongoing technical and design work exists outside the official release pipeline. Aftermath is a separate project and should not be treated as evidence that it is connected to Frontier F.
Coverage from PC Gamer has likewise highlighted FromSoftware’s continued silence around a conventional AC6 expansion alongside the creative builds and experiments produced by fans. That silence explains the mood surrounding projects such as Frontier F, but it should not be turned into a definitive statement about the publisher’s plans.

Can you download and play Frontier F?
There is currently no verified download link, creator identity, supported platform or installation guide established for Frontier F in the available reporting. Until the project’s creator publishes those details, treat screenshots and descriptions as evidence of development rather than a playable release.
- Do not assume a video or image proves a public build exists. It may show a work-in-progress or private test.
- Do not install files from unverified mirrors. A real mod should identify its author, version, requirements and source.
- Expect the original game to be required. A fan expansion would normally build on Armored Core VI rather than replace the base game.
- Check platform compatibility before changing files. Console and PC mod support are not interchangeable, and no Frontier F target has been documented.
If you have not played the base game, you need Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon before any future mod installation could make sense. The exact edition and regional availability depend on your market.

What would confirm a real release?
A credible Frontier F release announcement would need to provide an identifiable creator or team, a version number, supported platform, installation instructions, compatibility notes and a legitimate download location. Demonstrations of missions or units would also clarify whether the project is a playable expansion, an overhaul, a prototype or a visual showcase.

Until those facts appear, the safest description is “reported fan expansion in development.” It is an example of the community responding creatively to the lack of confirmed official expansion news, not a substitute for an announced FromSoftware DLC package.
