Bandai Namco confirmed a specific Armored Core VI save bug: on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, the game could switch to offline mode after the device woke from sleep and then fail to save progress. The publisher says it fixed that bug in the September 11, 2023 v1.02 update. That confirms one historical cause of lost progress—not that every “save data corrupted” warning has the same cause, or that the update restores progress already lost.
What the confirmed save glitch did
In its September 11, 2023 v1.02 patch notes, Bandai Namco said: “Fixed a bug that caused the game to enter offline mode and unable to save progress after the device recovers from sleep mode.” The platform heading in those notes limits the fix to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
In practical terms, the documented sequence was: the device resumed from sleep, Armored Core VI entered offline mode, and the game could not save progress. The publisher says v1.02 fixed that behavior. The note does not say the update can restore progress lost before installation, nor does it identify a repair for every missing save or corruption message.
What to check if progress disappeared
- Identify the platform and installed game version. The documented sleep/offline save bug named Xbox and Steam. If your issue is on PS4 or PS5, this particular patch note does not establish the same cause. Armored Core VI released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam, according to FromSoftware’s release announcement.
- Compare what happened with the documented trigger. Note whether the device had just resumed from sleep, whether the game went offline, and when you last saw progress save. This is useful information for triage, not proof of a diagnosis.
- Preserve any save copies that remain. Before deleting or overwriting local or cloud data, determine which copy is current and retain any available backup. There is no verified universal recovery procedure in the official material cited here, so avoid treating a cloud-sync swap, copied file, save editor or reinstall as a guaranteed fix.
- Contact Bandai Namco support for your region. Use the Armored Core VI support contact page. Include your platform, game version, the exact error message, when the issue occurred, whether it followed sleep or an offline transition, and whether a backup exists. The contact listing does not promise that a save can be restored.
If the issue is a console regulation update
A separate Bandai Namco notice dated October 3, 2024 says regulation patches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will not download if the game is configured to boot offline. To check that setting, open System Menu > Network Settings and ensure the game boots online, as the v1.07.1 notice advises. This is an update-delivery issue, not a method for recovering save data.

Other patch notes are not save-recovery fixes
Bandai Namco’s September 22, 2023 v1.03 notes list a fix for a crash that could occur in certain situations from the AC Data menu. They do not say that the crash fix restores campaign progress or repairs corrupted saves. Keep that separate from the v1.02 sleep/offline save bug.
PS4 and PS5 saves are not interchangeable
If you upgraded from PS4 to PS5, do not assume the two versions share an interchangeable save. FromSoftware’s release announcement says that save data transfer when upgrading is one-way and that saves are not compatible between console generations. That qualification concerns the PS4-to-PS5 upgrade; it is not a general recovery procedure.

What player reports can—and cannot—tell you
Community posts from August and September 2023 include phrases such as “saved data is corrupted” and reports of missing story progress while AC data remained. They document individual experiences, not how common the problem is or what caused a particular player’s loss. A corruption warning, a missing save and progress not being saved after sleep may be different problems, even when players describe them all as a save glitch.
