Heavy layered protection suits combat, quiet low-visibility clothes suit stealth, and clean high-charisma attire is better for conversations. There is no single outfit that excels at all three.
Which armor should you wear?

The current armor guide recommends choosing by role and building late-game protection from strong pieces in individual slots, rather than treating one named set as permanently best.

How to compare armor pieces
Armor can be layered over the same body area, so a single item’s rating does not tell you how well the whole outfit protects you. Compare your complete setup in the areas that matter for your situation:
- Protection: Check stab, slash, and blunt defense across the layers covering each area.
- Condition and quality: Damaged or lower-quality pieces can change the value of a build. Maintain equipment and compare the stats currently shown in-game.
- Weight: Mail and plate can offer protection at a cost in weight and noise.
- Stealth: Check the outfit’s Noise, Visibility, and Conspicuousness values together. A quiet piece alone does not guarantee a quiet overall outfit.
- Charisma: For social encounters, compare the finished outfit’s appeal rather than assuming combat armor will serve the same purpose.

Fill padded layers first. They form the foundation of a protective setup and can be combined with other armor where slots allow.

Add mail where its costs suit you
Mail can add protection, but it also adds noise and weight. Use it where the defensive benefit matters more than those costs.
Finish with maintained plate and uncovered slots
Add plate as it becomes available, check the condition of every piece, and look for exposed areas in the full outfit. Compare stab, slash, and blunt defense rather than judging the build by its heaviest item.

Is Brunswick’s armour worth pursuing?
Brunswick’s armour is a strong early-game option if you own The Lion’s Crest. The optional treasure hunt becomes available after the prologue. The guide notes that the set was rebalanced after launch, so older stat comparisons may not reflect its current value.
It is not required for a strong playthrough. Without the DLC, build gradually with repaired loot, affordable merchant pieces, and quest rewards; compare each new item against the equipment you already have.

What about stealth-focused named armor?
Cutpurse’s armour is described as a stealth-oriented unique set, but its attributes were reportedly reduced moderately in patch 1.4, and exact current stats are not established here. Check its in-game values and compare the resulting outfit’s Noise, Visibility, and Conspicuousness before committing to it.
Do not rely on Warhorse armour as a Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 recommendation: the available result for that name concerned the original game, not clearly the sequel.

Do matching armor pieces give a set bonus?
Whether matching pieces activate a set bonus is not established by the current KCD2-specific information available here. The guide’s slot-by-slot recommendations do not prove that bonuses never exist, so do not assume either that a matching set grants one or that it cannot. Check the current game’s item descriptions or other authoritative KCD2-specific documentation before building around a presumed bonus.
Why old armor rankings may not hold up
Armor comparisons can shift with game updates, item condition, and the pieces available to your character. The guide identifies Brunswick’s armour as rebalanced after launch and Cutpurse’s armour as affected by patch 1.4; it does not establish exact current stats for either. Use the values displayed in your game, for your current equipment condition, when making a final comparison.
