There is no reliable, directly documented answer that Arrow’s Reach Talisman increases Loretta’s Greatbow’s range. Arrow’s Reach is described as improving the effective range of ranged weapons, while Loretta’s Greatbow is a Carian sorcery that creates a magical bow and fires a magic great arrow. Because the spell is not an equipped bow weapon, you should not assume the talisman applies. The available references do not include a controlled in-game comparison proving either outcome.
What the question actually depends on
Whether the talisman works comes down to how Elden Ring classifies Loretta’s Greatbow internally, not simply to the fact that the spell looks like a bow shot. The spell creates a temporary magical greatbow when cast. It is selected from the sorcery menu, consumes FP, and scales as a spell rather than functioning as a physical bow held in the weapon slots.

Arrow’s Reach Talisman is described in game-reference material as increasing the effective range of ranged weapons. That wording naturally leads players to wonder whether a projectile that visually resembles an arrow should qualify. However, a visual projectile and a weapon-category interaction are not necessarily the same mechanic. The references available for this question do not document the spell’s internal interaction with Arrow’s Reach.
What is established about each item
| Item | Category | Documented behavior | What the evidence does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loretta’s Greatbow | Carian sorcery | Creates a magical greatbow and fires a magic great arrow. Charging the spell increases its potency. Its reference description characterizes the spell as having exceptionally high range. | It does not state that Arrow’s Reach Talisman modifies that range. |
| Arrow’s Reach Talisman | Talisman | Described as increasing effective range for ranged weapons. | The available description does not explicitly identify Loretta’s Greatbow as a ranged weapon for this effect. |
| Arrow’s Sting Talisman | Talisman | Increases arrow and bolt attack power according to its documented effect. | It does not establish anything about Arrow’s Reach or about spell range. |
The distinction between the two talismans is essential. Eldenpedia’s Arrow’s Sting Talisman reference notes that Loretta’s Greatbow and Loretta’s Mastery do not receive Arrow’s Sting’s attack-power boost. That is evidence about a damage modifier, not evidence about a range modifier. A talisman failing to increase spell damage does not prove that a different talisman cannot alter spell distance.

Why the available evidence cannot support a yes-or-no verdict
The main reference for Loretta’s Greatbow explains the spell’s identity, projectile and charging behavior, and unusually long intrinsic range. It does not report a before-and-after measurement with Arrow’s Reach equipped. The Arrow’s Reach description explains its intended effect in broad terms, but it does not provide a spell-specific exception or confirmation.
A 2022 discussion on the Elden Ring subreddit raised the same interaction question and received conflicting player anecdotes. Those replies are useful for showing that the issue has been debated for some time, but they are not controlled tests. Players may have used different character positions, target distances, lock-on states, charge levels, patches or camera angles. Anecdotes therefore cannot resolve whether the talisman changes the spell’s actual maximum distance.
No official publisher documentation or documented current-patch comparison was included in the available material. The responsible conclusion is consequently not verified, rather than “tested and proven not to work.” There is a meaningful difference between missing confirmation and a demonstrated negative result.

- Record the game version. Write down the platform and displayed game version before testing. Interactions can change between patches, and a result from one version should not automatically be generalized to another.
- Use one character and one spell setup. Equip Loretta’s Greatbow, keep your staff, attributes and buffs unchanged, and remove any other talisman or effect that could alter spell behavior. The only variable should be Arrow’s Reach.
- Choose a fixed firing position. Mark a location in an open area and stand in exactly the same spot for every cast. Avoid slopes, walls, elevation changes and moving targets that could make the projectile appear to stop early.
- Use the same target or reference point. A stationary enemy, a visible environmental object or a measured distance marker is preferable. If the target can be locked on, use the same lock-on state in both trials; if it cannot, use the same crosshair placement.
- Test uncharged casts first. Cast Loretta’s Greatbow without charging, once with Arrow’s Reach equipped and once without it. Repeat each condition several times rather than relying on a single projectile.
- Test fully charged casts separately. Charging increases the spell’s potency, so do not mix charged and uncharged shots when comparing distance. Hold the charge for the same duration in every trial.
- Move the target progressively farther away. Increase distance in consistent increments until the spell fails to reach, loses its targeting behavior or otherwise shows a repeatable limit. Record the farthest successful distance for each condition.
- Repeat after changing only one factor. If a result appears different, repeat it from the original position. Check whether the difference survives changes in target direction and camera orientation without changing the talisman.
A convincing result would require a repeatable difference under matched conditions. For example, if the spell consistently reaches a farther fixed marker with Arrow’s Reach and fails at that marker without it, that would be stronger evidence than a single visual impression. Conversely, identical limits across repeated trials would suggest no practical effect in that version, but it still would not be an official statement about the game’s underlying tags.
How to interpret possible test results
If the talisman appears to extend the distance
Check that the apparent improvement is not caused by a changed charge state, a different firing position or a target that moved between casts. Loretta’s Greatbow already has exceptionally high range according to its reference description, so small differences can be difficult to judge without fixed markers. Record the exact version and conditions before treating the result as a general rule.
If the talisman appears to do nothing
Make sure you tested the talisman itself rather than Arrow’s Sting. The two names are easy to confuse, and Arrow’s Sting’s documented limitation concerns attack power. Also verify that the spell was not failing because of terrain, target behavior or a changed lock-on state. A clean, repeated null result is useful practical information for your build, but it should be described as an observed result on that version, not as proof that every version behaves identically.
If results change between patches
Keep separate notes for each version. Community pages may preserve historical information that no longer describes the current build, and a patch note that changes FP cost does not automatically document range behavior. Do not use a cost change as evidence that Arrow’s Reach was added to or removed from the spell’s interaction list.

What the patch information does—and does not—tell you
The Loretta’s Greatbow reference includes a note about its FP cost in patch 1.07. That note is useful version history, but it does not date or verify the Arrow’s Reach interaction. A change to resource cost is a different property from projectile range, and the presence of a patch note should not be read as confirmation that all other spell mechanics were tested at the same time.
For a current build, the safest practice is to identify your exact version and either rely on the spell’s documented intrinsic range or perform the controlled comparison above. Avoid presenting an old forum result as a universal rule when the discussion itself contains conflicting reports.
Build decisions while the interaction is unresolved
Do not occupy a talisman slot solely on an assumption
If your plan depends on Loretta’s Greatbow reaching a particular ledge, enemy or arena boundary, Arrow’s Reach should not be treated as guaranteed technology. Equip it only when its other confirmed value fits your setup, or after you have personally observed the range change under the version you play.
Use the spell’s known strengths
Loretta’s Greatbow already offers a very long-range magical projectile and a charge mechanic that increases potency. Those properties are documented independently of Arrow’s Reach. Positioning at a clear firing lane and choosing whether the extra charge time is worthwhile are decisions you can make without assuming an unverified talisman interaction.

Keep damage and range questions separate
Arrow’s Sting is not a substitute for Arrow’s Reach. The documented lack of an Arrow’s Sting attack-power boost for Loretta’s Greatbow and Loretta’s Mastery concerns damage output. It neither confirms nor denies a distance effect from Arrow’s Reach. When troubleshooting a build, change one talisman at a time and record whether you are measuring damage, projectile distance or both.
Bottom line for players
Loretta’s Greatbow is a sorcery, not an equipped bow weapon, even though its cast creates a greatbow and fires an arrow-shaped projectile. Arrow’s Reach is described for ranged-weapon range, but the available references do not directly establish that the spell qualifies. The spell’s own range is described as exceptionally high, and its charge increases potency, yet neither fact proves a talisman bonus.
Therefore, answer the question as “not verified”. Do not promise that Arrow’s Reach increases Loretta’s Greatbow’s distance, and do not claim that it definitely fails without a controlled test on the relevant game version. If the distinction matters to your build, compare matched casts with and without the talisman while holding position, target, charge state and version constant.
