Xbox has not yet named the devices, their prices, or when consumers will be able to buy them.
What did Asha Sharma say about Xbox Helix?
At an internal town hall reported by Windows Central on October 6, 2026, Sharma said: “We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all.” She added that Xbox will have “a great console first,” while recognizing that “many players will be on the go,” and said the company will make some products itself and partner on others. Windows Central said it had received a transcript and verified it with trusted sources. Read Windows Central’s report.
That is a strategic description, not a product reveal. Sharma did not name the family’s members or specify how many devices Xbox plans to offer. “Console first” is the order she described, not a dated launch commitment.
What is confirmed about Project Helix?
Xbox’s March 11, 2026, GDC announcement gives a more specific description of Helix itself: it is the next-generation first-party Xbox console, designed to play Xbox console and PC games. Xbox said Helix uses a custom AMD SoC and that alpha hardware is planned to ship to developers beginning in 2027. That is a developer milestone, not a consumer release date. Xbox has not published detailed compatibility specifications. The announcement establishes the broad console-and-PC-games goal, but not which games, software, or compatibility cases will be supported. Naming AMD as the custom SoC partner also does not mean a Helix component will be sold separately to consumers.
Does “family of devices” mean a handheld?
Not on the evidence Xbox has announced. Sharma’s reference to players being “on the go” points to portability as a consideration, but she did not confirm a handheld, a cheaper console tier, or any particular form factor. Nor did she identify which products Xbox will manufacture itself and which it may develop with partners.

Sharma had used similar language earlier. In a BBC Gamescom interview transcript published by DayOne on August 29, 2026, she described Xbox working on “a great next generation and a great family of devices for Helix.” She also discussed console and PC games, affordability, efficiency, and player choice without naming devices or prices. How this fits Xbox’s wider hardware strategy
In April, Xbox described console as the foundation of its platform, with cloud extending the experience to other devices. It listed delivering Project Helix and leading in accessories among its hardware priorities. That wider strategy does not establish that Helix itself is a cloud device or confirm any new accessory. Xbox also said in a June business update that rising component costs limited how many consoles it could make, and that it needed a new hardware business model and partnerships while remaining committed to Helix.
