Essential covers the basics; Premium adds a larger catalog and more cloud time; Ultimate has the most cloud time, day-one releases, and additional bundled services. PC Game Pass is aimed at PC play and does not include cloud gaming in Xbox’s US plan overview.

| Plan | Catalog and release timing | Console multiplayer and benefits | Cloud gaming | US price information |

Plan features and figures above are from Xbox’s US plan overview and Cloud Gaming page, accessed October 7, 2026. Xbox cautions that “Game titles, number, features, and availability vary over time, by region, XBOX Game Pass plan, and platform.” Catalog counts are not guarantees that a particular game will remain included. See Xbox’s plan comparison and Xbox Cloud Gaming for current details.
Which plan should you choose?
Choose Essential for occasional cloud play and the basics
Essential is the entry-level fit if your main needs are online multiplayer on console and access to a smaller included catalog. Its listed 5 cloud hours per month may suit occasional streaming, but it does not include new releases on day one.
Choose Premium for more catalog and cloud time without day-one access
Premium raises the listed cloud allowance to 10 hours per month and offers a larger catalog. Xbox-published games join within 12 months of launch, so this plan is for players willing to wait rather than expecting those games on release day.

Choose Ultimate for day-one games, more cloud time, or bundled services
Ultimate is the option to consider if you want day-one releases, the listed EA Play, Fortnite Crew, or Ubisoft+ Classics inclusions, or 15 monthly cloud hours. Xbox also lists up to 1440p streaming on supported titles and devices. Its US listed price is higher than Premium’s post-offer price, so weigh those features against what you will actually use.
Choose PC Game Pass for a PC-centered setup
PC Game Pass lists 300+ PC games, day-one PC titles, and EA Play, but Xbox’s US overview does not include cloud gaming with this plan. It is not the choice for someone specifically seeking console-and-cloud coverage.

What to check before subscribing
- Games you intend to play: Search the live catalog for specific titles and confirm they are included with your plan and platform. Catalog size alone does not tell you whether the games you want are available.
- Actual price and offer eligibility: Premium’s displayed introductory offer may not be available to everyone, and prices can change. Check the current US comparison page and the final checkout amount.
- Cloud allowance and quality: Compare the monthly hour limit with how often you expect to stream. Ultimate’s stated up-to-1440p quality applies only to supported titles and devices.
- Location and device support: Cloud gaming depends on supported regions and devices. Xbox recommends a compatible controller, supported device, and high-speed internet connection; verify controller compatibility with your device. A controller is an optional accessory, not a universal requirement.
The listed prices, features, cloud limits, and availability are for Xbox’s US pages accessed October 7, 2026. If you subscribe outside the US, use your local Xbox page and checkout rather than assuming these terms apply.
