Is Black Flag Resynced a remake?
Yes. Ubisoft calls it a remake “rebuilt from the ground up on the latest version of the Anvil Engine,” based on the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It returns to the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, following Edward Kenway amid the Assassin–Templar conflict. Ubisoft describes the adaptation as faithful while also announcing new content and modernized gameplay; that is the publisher’s characterization, not an independent assessment.

What has changed from the original Black Flag?
Ubisoft’s announced changes go beyond a visual upgrade. They span presentation, combat, stealth, and additional story and ship content.
Visuals and performance
Ubisoft lists ray-traced lighting, micropolygon rendering, and modernized water among the technical upgrades. Its launch guide also describes 60 FPS options on consoles. These are announced features, not results from independent testing.
Combat and stealth
Combat has been reworked around parrying and timing, with gun kata and quick-fire pistol combinations. Stealth adds the ability to crouch anywhere and an observe mode. Ubisoft’s descriptions indicate more flexible approaches than the original game’s systems.

Can you play offline?
Ubisoft says installation requires a one-time online connection, after which the main game can be played offline. Some Animus Hub live content—the Store, Anomalies, Projects, and Vault—requires online access, so offline play does not cover every feature.
