Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has seven named shipwreck sites. Each contains a Secret Chest with a unique reward: six ship-upgrade plans and one rare cutlass. You unlock every dive by completing Diving for Medicines, the first mission of Sequence 6, which awards the Diving Bell. For a safer underwater run, lower the separate Activities difficulty rather than changing land combat, stealth, or naval combat.
What you need before visiting shipwrecks
Shipwreck exploration is not available from the opening hours. Advance the story to Sequence 6 and complete Diving for Medicines. The mission takes Edward to the San Ignacio wreck and gives him the Diving Bell. After that story dive, the other wreck markers appear on the world map.

The bell is mandatory. Edward cannot enter a wreck by swimming straight down from the surface, even if an upgrade or setting gives him effectively unlimited oxygen. At each marked site, look for the masts projecting above the water and interact with them to board the bell and begin the dive.
How to survive every underwater dive
- Start from the mast marker. Surface swimming does not open a wreck; use the Diving Bell interaction at the wreck’s masts.
- Track oxygen continuously. Air barrels and air pockets refill your supply. Plan the next refill before opening a chest or entering a side tunnel.
- Read creature cues. Sharks can lunge and trigger a dodge quick-time event. Console Pulse describes a sideways dodge when a shark’s mouth flashes white; Vandal also warns that a missed dodge can cost valuable health. Jellyfish inflict contact damage, so do not brush through a swarm while turning toward a chest.
- Sweep with the map. Use the map and the white-dot highlighting to identify nearby chest positions, then search every branch instead of following only the most obvious route.
- Check the awkward edges. The eastern edge of Kabah Ruins and the exterior stern area at Atocha are specifically easy to overlook. The Atocha chest may require swimming through an opening in the hull.
These dives reward deliberate movement more than speed. If a tunnel forks, refill first, then clear one branch completely before committing to the other. That approach reduces the chance of reaching a chest with too little oxygen to return.

All seven underwater shipwrecks and their Secret Chest rewards
The table uses the reward wording reported by Vandal. Console Pulse uses “Ultimate” where Vandal uses “Elite,” so the exact label shown in your inventory may differ even when the underlying upgrade is the same. Coordinates follow the in-game map format.
| Wreck | Map coordinates | Secret Chest reward | Important route or count note |
|---|---|---|---|
| San Ignacio Wreck | 348,745 | Elite Hull Armor Plans | First story wreck. Vandal describes seven chests plus money and the plans. |
| Atocha Wreck (spelled “Antocha” by Console Pulse) | 600,636 | Elite Mortars Plans | The stern-area chest can require an opening through the hull. |
| Black Trench | 184,425 | Broad Sword, also identified as the rare Espada Ancha cutlass | Chest totals differ between guides; Vandal notes that the game itself displays seven. |
| Devil’s Eye Caverns | 456,332 | Elite Swivel Guns Plans | A multi-area cave with a winding tunnel route. |
| La Concepción Wreck | 150,271 | Elite Ram Plans | Vandal reports ten chests. |
| The Blue Hole | 440,145 | Elite Broadside Cannons Plans | Vandal reports eleven chests. |
| Kabah Ruins | 738,120 | Elite Round Shot Strength Plans | Two eastern chests are easy to miss; Vandal also reports an intermittent current in the northern tunnel. |
San Ignacio Wreck — 348,745
San Ignacio is the introductory wreck from Diving for Medicines. Its Secret Chest awards the Elite Hull Armor Plans. Because the story forces you through this location, it is the best place to learn how air barrels, air pockets and creature dodges work before tackling the longer caves.
Atocha Wreck — 600,636
This site awards the Elite Mortars Plans. Search around the stern rather than stopping when the main interior appears empty. The reported stern chest sits outside the obvious route and may only be reachable by swimming through a hole in the hull. Console Pulse calls this wreck “Antocha” in its table; use the coordinate and map marker if the spelling differs in your game.
Black Trench — 184,425
The Secret Chest here is the only one in the set that is not a ship-plan reward. Vandal calls it the Broad Sword, while Console Pulse identifies the same rare cutlass as Espada Ancha. Both names point to the unique weapon reward. This wreck has the clearest counting dispute: Vandal describes eight chests in one passage but also notes that the game says seven.
Devil’s Eye Caverns — 456,332
Devil’s Eye is a connected cave rather than a simple straight wreck. Its Secret Chest contains the Elite Swivel Guns Plans. Vandal reports ten chests and describes a winding tunnel route, so follow the map dots through every chamber instead of turning back after the first large room.
La Concepción Wreck — 150,271
The Secret Chest gives the Elite Ram Plans. Vandal lists ten chests at this site. Keep a mental note of cleared branches while following the white dots; returning through an already searched corridor is easy to confuse with a new side passage.

The Blue Hole — 440,145
The Blue Hole contains the Elite Broadside Cannons Plans. Vandal reports eleven chests, making a full map sweep especially useful. Refill oxygen before the final branch so a long return swim does not force an early exit.

Kabah Ruins — 738,120
Kabah’s Secret Chest awards the Elite Round Shot Strength Plans. Console Pulse warns that two chests on the eastern edge can be missed. Vandal additionally describes an intermittent current in the northern tunnel; if the current pushes Edward off course, use short movements and reorient from the next air pocket rather than fighting it continuously.
Why the published chest totals do not match
There is no single, publisher-confirmed chest total in the available official material. Console Pulse counts 61 regular chests plus seven Secret Chests, for 68 overall, and gives regular-chest counts of seven, seven, seven, nine, ten, ten and eleven for the seven sites in table order. Vandal’s per-wreck descriptions instead list San Ignacio at seven, Atocha at eight, Black Trench at eight, Devil’s Eye at ten, La Concepción at ten, The Blue Hole at eleven and Kabah at twelve. Those figures do not add up to Console Pulse’s total, and Vandal specifically says the game displays seven for Black Trench.
Treat both sets as guide attributions, not as Ubisoft statistics. Use the completion marker in your own game as the final authority. If a wreck remains incomplete, rescan the white dots and revisit the eastern Kabah edge or Atocha’s exterior stern before assuming the counter is wrong.
Console Pulse estimates roughly 1,000 Reales per regular chest. That is the guide’s estimate, not an official payout published by Ubisoft, and it should not be used as a guaranteed amount for every chest or playthrough.
Which difficulty setting changes shipwreck dives?
Resynced separates difficulty into four controls: Combat, Stealth, Naval Combat and Activities. Each offers Forgiving, Intended and Hard, and Ubisoft says you can change the settings during play. Intended is the default and is designed to approximate the original Black Flag’s experience.
Rank #3
- Includes Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag with all its single-player DLCs on game card and Assassin’s Creed Rogue digital download.
- Enhanced Features for the Nintendo Switch system
- In Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean - Become Edward Kenway
- An award-winning naval experience - Command your ship, the Jackdaw, and strike fear in all who see her.
- In Assassin's Creed Rogue Slowly descend into darkness - witness Shay's transformation from an adventurous assassin to a grim and committed Templar hunting down his former brothers
For underwater exploration, change Activities. Ubisoft defines this slider as the setting for shipwreck exploration and harpoon hunting. It changes three dive-specific pressures:
| Activities setting | Creature damage | Creature spawn frequency | Time to dodge attacks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forgiving | Lower | Less frequent | More time |
| Intended (default) | Original-style balance | Original-style balance | Original-style timing |
| Hard | Higher | More frequent | Less time |
The practical advantage is isolation: lowering Activities makes sharks and jellyfish less threatening without reducing the challenge of Edward’s sword fights, stealth sections or Jackdaw battles. Raise it again after the wrecks if you want the harsher underwater timing.
Ubisoft’s June 12, 2026 deep dive explains the philosophy through Paul Fu: “We want to give players more choices.” He gives the example, “If you’re a sword combat expert but have the subtlety of a broadside canon, maybe you want to up the combat difficulty but lower the stealth difficulty.” The separate sliders are intended to prevent one weak area from creating an unnecessary difficulty spike elsewhere.
What the other sliders control
- Combat: enemy attack participation and frequency, plus Edward’s melee damage outside stealth.
- Stealth: enemy detection and search behavior.
- Naval Combat: Jackdaw and enemy damage, bracing, automatic repairs, ramming cooldowns, and fort damage and cooldown behavior.
A reliable completion route
- Finish Diving for Medicines in Sequence 6 and complete the San Ignacio objective.
- Open the map and mark each newly revealed wreck, starting with the site whose reward matches your next ship upgrade.
- Enter through the protruding masts with the Diving Bell; do not attempt a surface dive.
- Set Activities to Forgiving if creature damage, spawn frequency or dodge timing is blocking progress. Leave the other three sliders unchanged if you want their existing challenge.
- Collect every regular chest shown by the map’s white dots, using air barrels and pockets as checkpoints.
- Search the known edge cases: Atocha’s stern opening, Kabah’s eastern edge and the northern current tunnel.
- Verify the in-game wreck completion marker before leaving. Because guide totals conflict, the marker is more reliable than adding numbers from an online list.
Completion rewards and map progress
Visiting all seven wreck locations contributes to Cartographer. Looting every chest, including each of the seven Secret Chests, is the requirement Console Pulse gives for Seven Deadly Seas. These are separate goals: you can finish the map-visit contribution without having cleared every underwater chest.
Release and platform context
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced released on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The PC edition is sold through the Ubisoft Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft says physical copies are available through local retailers. Those platform details do not change the wreck locations, rewards or difficulty controls described above.
