If Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t launch, start with the checks that match your platform: update the game and launcher, verify the PC game files, and confirm PC requirements. A splash-screen hang alone does not identify the cause.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t start on PC: try these checks in order
First note what happens: no response when you press Play, a Ubisoft Connect sign-in problem, a hang at the splash screen, or a crash with an error. The steps below begin with low-risk checks and move toward launcher maintenance. Ubisoft says that verifying game files can restore missing or corrupted files when a PC game crashes or will not start: Ubisoft’s file verification instructions.
- Update the game and Ubisoft Connect. Install any pending updates. If you own the game through Steam or Epic, update it through that storefront as well. Confirm the PC can reach Ubisoft services; a connection or sign-in issue can prevent access to features that require login. Ubisoft Connect can also be put into offline mode, which affects some features. Check Ubisoft service status and Ubisoft’s Ubisoft Connect connection guidance.
- Verify the installed game files. In Ubisoft Connect PC, open Library, select Assassin’s Creed Mirage, click the cog beside Play, then choose Verify files. If you installed the game through Steam or Epic, use that storefront’s file-verification option instead. Verification checks the installation and can restore missing or corrupted files; it does not diagnose every possible launch problem.
- Check Mirage’s own minimum PC requirements. Ubisoft lists Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12, 8 GB of RAM in dual-channel mode, and 40 GB of storage, along with specific processor and graphics-card requirements on its Mirage PC store page. Compare your CPU and GPU against that page rather than another Assassin’s Creed game’s requirements. Minimum specifications are a baseline, not a guarantee that a particular system will launch the game successfully.
- Check whether Ubisoft Connect or its overlay is involved. If the game fails around sign-in or when the overlay should appear, make sure Connect is updated, temporarily close background applications, and check whether security software is blocking the client. These are general Ubisoft Connect troubleshooting steps, not a confirmed diagnosis for Mirage. Ubisoft’s overlay guidance covers these checks. Do not turn off security protection wholesale; use its allowed-app or exception settings only if you can do so safely.
- Clear the Connect cache only if simpler checks fail. Ubisoft provides instructions to close Connect, rename its cache folders, and restart the app in its cache-clearing guide. This is a later troubleshooting step, not a reason to delete the game or saves.
- Reinstall Ubisoft Connect only as a later resort. Before reinstalling, close the launcher and back up local saves. Read the uninstall options carefully so installed games and local save files are retained or removed only as you intend. Ubisoft’s Connect uninstall instructions describe the available choices.
AC Mirage stuck on the splash screen: what the symptom tells you
A splash-screen hang is a useful description of when startup stops, but it does not establish a single cause or a confirmed widespread Mirage defect. Record whether Ubisoft Connect remains open, whether an error appears, and whether the game closes or stays frozen. On PC, use the file-verification and compatibility checks above, then look for a launcher, sign-in, or security-software issue if the failure occurs while Connect is starting. Avoid treating a symptom reported by other players as proof that your installation has the same problem.
Ubisoft’s PC store listing says Denuvo DRM is automatically installed and required to launch the PC game. That fact may be relevant when interpreting an error, but it does not by itself show that DRM is causing a particular launch failure.

If Mirage won’t launch on PlayStation or Xbox
Ubisoft lists Assassin’s Creed Mirage for PS4, PS5, and Xbox digital platforms on its store page. The official guidance cited here does not provide Mirage-specific launch recovery steps for PlayStation or Xbox, so keep console troubleshooting conservative:
- Fully restart the console, then try launching the game again. This is a low-risk general check, not a confirmed Ubisoft fix for Mirage.
- Check for pending updates to the game and console system software, and install them through the console’s normal update settings.
- If the game still fails, note the exact error code and whether it appears before or after the game’s splash screen. Contact Ubisoft Support or the console maker for platform-specific advice.
Do not delete saves, rebuild a database, or factory-reset the console as an early troubleshooting step. Consult the platform’s support instructions and protect save data before considering any action that could affect it.

What to send Ubisoft Support if the checks do not help
A precise report is more useful than saying only that the game will not open. Include:
- Your platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S.
- On PC, where you own or installed the game: Ubisoft Connect, Steam, or Epic.
- The exact error message or code, or a description of where startup stops if there is no error.
- For PC, your Windows version and CPU, GPU, and RAM.
- Which steps you tried, including file verification, and what happened afterward.
This helps support distinguish a game-installation issue from a launcher, account, connection, or platform-specific problem without assuming a cause that the available symptoms do not establish.
