Legendary armor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is character-specific headgear and body gear with distinctive perks. Most pieces in the March 2025 location guide are in guarded castle chests, and wearing two pieces with the same set name does not grant an extra set bonus, according to that guide. Its roster was marked as under construction, however, so the locations below are useful examples—not a confirmed, complete list for the current game or its expansions.
How legendary armor works
Gear is divided into weapons, headgear, armor, and a trinket or amulet, and each item has a level, quality, and stats. Ubisoft describes Legendary perks as effects that alter a game mechanic rather than merely increasing a stat; those perks appear on Legendary gear. Read the item’s perk before choosing it: two pieces with the same rarity can serve very different playstyles. Ubisoft’s progression overview explains gear and customization.
Push Square’s March 20, 2025 guide reports that named armor sets consist of separate head and body pieces, with no additional bonus for equipping both. It says almost all the pieces it covers are in Legendary Treasure Chests in heavily guarded castles. Treat these as guide-reported mechanics and locations, not a current patch audit. Read the location guide.
How to choose a set and reach its location
- Choose your character and role. Naoe’s examples lean toward stealth, tools, and movement; Yasuke’s include defense, ranged combat, and posture damage.
- Check the individual piece’s perk. A set name does not guarantee a useful pairing, and the guide reports no matching-piece bonus.
- Plan for the challenge. Many listed pieces are in guarded castles. Locate the named castle or site in the stated region, then be ready to reach its treasure chest or target.
- Use the Forge if you want to upgrade or change appearance. Build the Forge in the Hideout to unlock gear upgrades, engraving, and transmog. Ubisoft says transmog is applied from the inventory without spending in-game money.

Does Claws of Awaji add more legendary gear?
Yes. Ubisoft says the Claws of Awaji expansion adds armor and gear for both Naoe and Yasuke, and that those additions can be brought back into the main game. Ubisoft also distinguishes expansion-exclusive Legendary Bo staves with unique engravings from the Bo weapon itself, which is available to all players through a free quest. A base-game location list therefore cannot be treated as the full expansion-inclusive roster. Ubisoft has also reported post-launch additions including New Game+ and an increased level cap. Ubisoft’s Claws of Awaji announcement covers the expansion additions.
