The update closes Naoe and Yasuke’s story; the parkour improvements discussed below arrived in earlier post-launch updates, not in a forthcoming patch.
What is in the latest Assassin’s Creed Shadows update?
Title Update 1.1.11, released June 16, 2026, is the game’s final update, according to Ubisoft’s final-update announcement. It adds two main features: the final story installment, Black Tides, and Domains, a replayable challenge mode. Ubisoft says both are free.
Black Tides concludes Naoe and Yasuke’s story
Black Tides wraps up the protagonists’ story and links Shadows to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Xbox Wire reported an estimate of approximately two hours of new content; that is a reported estimate, not a Ubisoft-published playtime guarantee. Xbox Wire’s June 16, 2026 interview discusses the addition.
Domains adds changing challenge arenas
Domains takes place outside the Japan simulation and features five arenas with objectives and gameplay modifiers that vary between runs. Ubisoft says arena layouts, sight lines, lighting, enemy types, and other parameters differ. That variation is intended to make players adapt their builds and equipment rather than rely on one fixed approach.

How did parkour change?
The parkour revisions came in stages after launch. They expanded movement options and gave players more control over when and how Naoe and Yasuke could leave or catch a surface.
First additions: height-gaining ejects and a new ledge jump
Ubisoft’s April 30, 2025 roadmap announced the first parkour additions: height-gaining back-ejects, fully re-animated height-gaining side-ejects, and the Vertical Ledge Jump. The jump lets either character jump and grab awnings and lower overhangs when a wall-run is not an option. These were presented as the first round of improvements in the April 2025 roadmap.

Parkour Update 2: more freedom and recovery options
Ubisoft’s October 23, 2025 fall roadmap described a second parkour update. Its Advanced Parkour toggle removes parkour barriers so players can perform side-ejects and back-ejects from any height. The update also covered several other movement adjustments:
- Side-eject tweaks while using parkour down.
- Vertical ledge grabs that work in more situations, including on objects where the character is not standing.
- An option to manually jump from beams.
- The return of directional catch ledge.
These features were outlined in the October 2025 fall roadmap. Ubisoft Associate Game Director Simon Lemay-Comtois later said community workshops and discussions helped shape the revisions. In a June 16, 2026 interview, he described the post-launch work as an “almost complete overhaul” of parkour and recalled that his initial confidence in the launch system was misplaced. The Xbox Wire interview also quotes him saying the second chance to improve Shadows’ parkour helped the team working on Black Flag Resynced improve parkour in that game.

What story content arrived before Black Tides?
Ubisoft’s post-launch plans included free Story Drops: quests introducing abilities, allies, activities, and character backstories. The first named drop was The Works of Luis Frois, announced in the April 2025 roadmap.
The October 2025 roadmap named A Puzzlement as another free story drop. Ubisoft described it as a humorous quest involving foes from Naoe’s past. During it, Naoe learns a version of Yasuke’s war kick, while Yasuke learns a non-lethal stealth takedown. The roadmaps described these releases as future plans at the time; the June 2026 announcement subsequently identified Black Tides and Domains as the final update.
Does Assassin’s Creed Shadows still get updates?
No further updates are announced: Ubisoft calls Title Update 1.1.11 the final update. The post-launch sequence was first-round parkour additions, Parkour Update 2, free Story Drops, and then the final Black Tides and Domains release. The 2025 roadmaps are historical announcements, not evidence of upcoming content.
How can you access the update?
The update is free, but you need access to Assassin’s Creed Shadows to play it. Ubisoft lists the base game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam, and Apple-silicon Macs through the Mac App Store.
