What was Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Steam launch peak?
SteamDB lists 20 March 2025 as the Steam release date and records an all-time peak of 64,825 concurrent players on 23 March 2025. The peak came three days after the listed release date. SteamDB’s player chart is the source for both figures.

Concurrent players are the number of people playing at one time. The figure is not the total number of players who tried the game, the number of copies sold, or a measure of revenue. It gives a clear snapshot of the game’s highest observed simultaneous Steam audience, not its complete commercial performance.
What did Ubisoft say about Day 1 sales?
In its FY2024–25 results, Ubisoft said Shadows delivered the second-highest Day 1 sales revenue in Assassin’s Creed history, behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft also said the game set a Day 1 performance record for the company on the PlayStation digital store. These are Ubisoft’s franchise-wide and PlayStation-store statements, respectively; neither establishes Steam-specific sales. - Steam concurrency: SteamDB’s 64,825 figure is a peak of simultaneous Steam players on 23 March 2025.
- Day 1 revenue ranking: Ubisoft’s second-place franchise ranking describes revenue, but provides neither a dollar amount nor a unit count in the cited results.
- Platform scope: Shadows launched on 20 March 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Apple silicon Macs, and Windows PC through Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Steam activity therefore represents only one part of its audience and storefront footprint. Ubisoft announced Steam Deck verification at launch. Ubisoft’s launch announcement lists the platforms and storefronts.
- Review score: Ubisoft reported a 91/100 average player score across the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam. This is Ubisoft’s reported combined score, not a Steam-only rating.
These measures answer different questions. A concurrent-player peak describes simultaneous Steam activity; a revenue rank describes a broader Day 1 commercial result; and a combined player score reflects ratings across several first-party stores. None alone supplies a complete account of sales, profitability, or long-term performance.

What happened after launch?
Ubisoft’s October 2025 update notes document post-launch additions and changes, including parkour updates and Corrupted Castles. Those notes show that support continued after release, but do not establish sales performance. Ubisoft’s update notes provide the dated post-launch context.
