When did Baldur’s Gate 3 mods arrive on console?
Larian Studios announced the console and Mac rollout of Patch 7 on October 1, 2024. The same announcement said Hotfix 26 and Hotfix 27 were rolling out with it. Those dates explain the headline; they do not establish the game’s current patch version or current mod catalog. Larian’s October 1, 2024 Hotfix 27 announcement also recorded fixes to the Mod Manager, including controller navigation, downloads, uninstall behavior, and multiplayer startup after required mods were installed. These are historical patch notes, not evidence that those issues remain unresolved.
How do you install mods on PS5 or Xbox?
- Open Baldur’s Gate 3 on your console and go to the in-game Mod Manager.
- Browse the supported catalog and choose a mod listed for your platform.
- Download and enable it through the manager, following any requirements shown for that mod.

The official Toolkit is a separate PC-creator tool. Larian describes it as a Steam download for PC players; console players cannot use it to create mods. That distinction is about the creation workflow, not a way to load arbitrary PC files onto a console.

Can you play cross-play with mods?
Yes. Larian’s cross-play guidance says players can use mods, but every person in the lobby must have exactly the same mods and versions installed. Agree on the mod list and version numbers before hosting or joining; a mismatch can prevent the group from meeting that requirement. See Larian’s Cross-Play: Hosting or Joining a Game FAQ.
Larian’s later Patch 8 announcement described cross-play between PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 and noted that console mod curation continued. It provides context for the feature’s later platform support, but it is not a live compatibility checker for a particular patch or mod: The Final Patch: New Subclasses, Photo Mode, and Cross-Play.
