“Assetto Corsa Early Access” refers here to Assetto Corsa EVO, not the original Assetto Corsa or Assetto Corsa Competizione. EVO launched on Steam Early Access on January 16, 2025, and remains in development. Whether to buy now depends on whether you want to play an evolving build—not on features or a release date that may arrive later.
What is Assetto Corsa EVO Early Access?
Assetto Corsa EVO is a racing simulation from KUNOS Simulazioni, published by 505 Games. Its Steam Early Access release lets players buy and play while development continues. Steam cautions that Early Access games may be incomplete and can change; the developer says the planned full version is intended to add content and gameplay features, with performance and stability improvements. That makes the key question practical: do you want to play the current version as it evolves, or would you rather wait for a more finished feature set? Buy for the experience available now, not solely for what the full release is planned to become.
What content and features are documented?
At the January 2025 Early Access debut, KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games announced five tracks and 20 cars, alongside Free Practice, Quick Race, Driving Academy, special events, VR and triple-screen support. Those figures describe the launch snapshot, not the current roster. January 16, 2025 launch announcement

#1 Best Overall
- As with its predecessor, Assetto Corsa EVO will include cars from different classes spanning across years of motoring history. From road cars, classics, hypercars, and race cars. The most iconic representation of the automotive and motorsport world. Each vehicle is reproduced through Kunos in-house physics and graphic engine simulating mechanical, electronic, and aerodynamic performance, combined with the fidelity of the circuits created using Laserscan technology
- In Early Access 1 you will be able to experience a range of vehicles, tracks and game modes that will evolve on the road to our full 1.0 launch.
Subsequent Steam updates document additions rather than a single fixed inventory: Early Access 5 added cars, Watkins Glen and Paul Ricard, and a free camera mode. Steam also lists single-player and VR support. Since content changes over time, check the current Steam listing and update notes for the latest available details instead of treating the launch count as current. Is multiplayer available?
Yes. KUNOS announced multiplayer as part of Early Access Release 3 on September 25, 2025. It should not be described as absent from the current Early Access game. Release 3 announcement

- Compete against official drivers, teams, cars circuits reproduced in game with the highest level of accuracy ever achieved on console

Do you need a racing wheel?
No mandatory wheel requirement is established by the cited Steam information. Its update notes refer to settings for both wheel and gamepad input, so a gamepad is a documented option and a wheel-and-pedal setup is an optional route for players who prefer it. The sources reviewed do not confirm compatibility for specific wheel models; check the current game information and hardware requirements for your intended setup before buying equipment. Steam lists VR support, and the launch announcement documented triple-screen support. If either display setup matters to you, verify current compatibility and requirements rather than assuming every headset or monitor configuration is supported.

When is the full release?
There is no confirmed public 1.0 date in the cited sources. Digital Bros’ interim report, reporting status as of March 31, 2026, said EVO would continue receiving updates while in Early Access and forecast full release during the next fiscal year. That is a dated publisher expectation, not a scheduled launch date. Digital Bros interim report as at March 31, 2026
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy now or wait?
- Consider buying now if you are comfortable with an in-progress game and the current build’s available driving, modes and content are what you want to play.
- Consider waiting if you want a finished feature set, prefer to judge a larger body of developed content, or do not want to accept changes during Early Access.
- Check before spending on hardware if your decision depends on a particular wheel, headset or triple-screen setup; the cited sources do not establish compatibility for every model or configuration.
As with any Early Access game, the safest basis for a purchase is the experience and details Steam documents at the time you buy, rather than future additions or the publisher’s release forecast.
