ASUS Armoury Crate is a useful official control center when you own supported ROG, TUF, or other ASUS gaming hardware and want its settings in one place. It can manage performance and fan modes, GPU behavior, monitoring, device settings, updates, and lighting—but the controls depend on the exact device and Armoury Crate version. Its breadth is convenient for some owners and unnecessary overhead for others; check model support and the features you rely on before installing it or replacing it with G-Helper.
What Armoury Crate does
ASUS describes Armoury Crate as an integration application for supported ROG and TUF gaming laptops and desktops. It also supports other ASUS products, but the available controls vary by model, hardware, app version, and region. ASUS’s Armoury Crate FAQ and compatible-device list are the best starting points for checking what your system exposes.
On supported hardware, Armoury Crate brings together system and connected-device controls that might otherwise live in separate utilities. Depending on the device, that can include:
- Operating and performance modes, fan behavior, GPU settings, and system-resource monitoring on supported gaming laptops and desktops.
- Aura Sync lighting across compatible devices, plus individual-device lighting controls that do not require synchronization.
- Settings for supported motherboards, mice, liquid coolers, keyboards, and displays—for example, fan speed, mouse DPI, cooler adjustments, macro keys, and display options.
- Device management and updates, alongside optional modules, account features, and promotional or other content.

Performance modes and model-dependent controls
On supported gaming laptops and desktops, Armoury Crate’s mode controls can include Windows, Silent, Performance, Turbo, and Manual. Some devices may also offer Tablet or Vertical modes. ASUS documents these as hardware-dependent choices; a mode shown in a guide may not appear on your model.
Power conditions matter, too. ASUS says Turbo mode is available only while the device is charging. Some Manual-mode features have additional model or AC-power restrictions. Check the guide for your device rather than assuming a setting will be available on battery or across all model years.
Monitoring and GPU controls can also vary. Armoury Crate may display system-resource information or offer GPU settings on supported systems, but the exact options depend on the hardware and software configuration. The utility’s value is therefore less about a universal control panel than about whether it centralizes the controls ASUS provides for your particular machine.

Aura Sync and peripheral controls
Aura Sync coordinates lighting across compatible devices. If you want to adjust one device without synchronizing it with others, ASUS documents individual lighting settings under Device > Lighting. Compatibility is model-specific, so verify each component or peripheral against ASUS’s compatible-device list before expecting it to appear in the app.

These controls are useful when available, but they are not guaranteed for every device in a product category.
Who is likely to benefit—and who may prefer less
Armoury Crate makes sense if
- You use a supported ASUS gaming laptop or desktop and want its performance, fan, GPU, monitoring, and lighting options together.
- You own several compatible ASUS devices and want one place to manage their settings or Aura Sync lighting.
- You value the official vendor utility and its model-specific documentation and support path.
It may feel like more than you need if
- You only need one setting and would rather avoid installing modules or features you do not use.
- You prefer a focused community utility over a vendor control center that also includes optional modules, account features, and content.
- Your device’s essential controls are already available elsewhere, or the Armoury Crate options for your model do not match what you need.
ASUS says functions can be installed or removed through the Feature Library in Armoury Crate version 6.0. That makes the breadth more configurable than an all-or-nothing bundle, although the available modules still depend on the device and app version.

Does Armoury Crate support your ASUS model?
Check the exact product model rather than relying on the ROG or TUF name alone. ASUS maintains a compatible-device list, and its Armoury Crate support page directs users to support and product-registration resources. Regional availability and model differences can affect what is offered.
ASUS’s FAQ lists Windows 10 (Creators Update/1903 or later) and Windows 11 as supported operating systems. Some ROG and TUF systems ship with Armoury Crate preinstalled; ASUS also provides an installer through model support pages. Follow the instructions for your exact model, especially if the app is missing or an installation needs repair.

ASUS provides a dedicated uninstall tool and recommends following the model support-page instructions. If you are reinstalling after a previous installation, ASUS advises using the uninstall tool and restarting before installing again. A stable internet connection is recommended; ASUS also advises avoiding VPN interference and checking whether antivirus or optimizer software is blocking installation.

- Open the ASUS support page for your exact device model and find the Armoury Crate instructions or installer.
- If Armoury Crate was installed before and you are reinstalling, download and run ASUS’s Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool as directed.
- Restart the computer when prompted. ASUS says that if uninstalling fails, restart and run the tool again.
- Install Armoury Crate using the package and steps for your model, with a stable internet connection. Avoid a VPN during installation and check security or optimizer software if setup is blocked.
If you disable Microsoft Store app updates as a way to manage Armoury Crate updates, note the side effect: ASUS says that setting affects all installed Store apps, not just Armoury Crate and Aura Creator.
Is G-Helper a viable alternative?
G-Helper is a community-made option for some ASUS laptops and handhelds. Independent coverage describes overlap with Armoury Crate’s controls, but it does not establish G-Helper as a complete substitute across every ASUS product or feature. ASUS’s own compatible-device and feature documentation remains the safer reference for your model; TechRadar’s September 2026 coverage discusses the alternative and the appeal of a more focused utility.
Before switching, compare the controls you actually use rather than judging by a general feature list:

- Device compatibility: confirm support for your exact laptop, handheld, desktop, or component.
- Required controls: check access to the GPU, fan, performance, lighting, hotkey, or audio functions you rely on.
- Power conditions: compare default profiles and custom controls, including whether settings are available on battery or only while plugged in.
- Software scope: decide whether you want ASUS’s broader official utility and optional modules or a more focused community tool.
- Support and updates: weigh ASUS’s model-specific support path against the alternative’s own update and troubleshooting resources.
Choose based on confirmed compatibility and required controls. Do not assume that a setting available through Armoury Crate will also work in G-Helper, or vice versa.
Security notice to check
Windows Central reported on August 12, 2026, that ASUS had issued an August 10 advisory concerning a vulnerable component used by Armoury Crate, associated in the report with CVE-2026-8917. The report did not identify the component, and the exact affected Armoury Crate package or version and remediation are not established here. Check the live ASUS Product Security Advisory and the update information for your device in Armoury Crate or on its support page before deciding what action to take. Do not infer that a particular version is affected or fixed without ASUS’s current notice.
