Start with the closest Ubisoft performance tier, then use the in-game benchmark to tune a few options at a time. Ubisoft’s tiers are published targets—not guaranteed results or independent tests—and several rely on upscaling or dynamic resolution rather than native rendering.
Start with your resolution and frame-rate target
Decide whether you want 1080p, 1440p, or 4K, and whether your priority is 30 or 60 FPS. Then compare your CPU and GPU with Ubisoft’s tier closest to that goal. A GPU name alone cannot guarantee a result: performance also depends on the CPU, settings, resolution, upscaling, and the rest of the system.
Ubisoft’s published PC specifications list the following target configurations. The resolution and frame-rate figures are targets in the stated settings context; they are not promises of native-resolution performance on every PC.
| Ray-tracing tier | Ubisoft target | Example CPU | Example GPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selective — minimum | 1080p, 30 FPS, Low | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB, AMD Radeon RX 5700 8 GB, or Intel Arc A580 8 GB (Resizable BAR on) |
| Selective — recommended | 1080p, 60 FPS, High | Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB, or Intel Arc B580 12 GB (Resizable BAR on) |
| Selective — enthusiast | 1440p, 60 FPS, High | Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB, AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16 GB, or Intel Arc B580 12 GB (Resizable BAR on) |
| Selective — 4K enthusiast | 4K, 60 FPS, High | Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16 GB or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT 20 GB |
| Standard — minimum | 1080p, 30 FPS, High | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB, or Intel Arc B580 12 GB (Resizable BAR on) |
| Standard — recommended | 1440p, 60 FPS, High | Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12 GB or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB |
| Extended — enthusiast | 1440p, 60 FPS, Ultra | Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB |
| Extended — extreme | 4K, 60 FPS, Ultra | Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB |
These configurations are from Ubisoft’s published PC specifications. Ubisoft Store’s live requirements page may use slightly different tier labels or descriptions, so treat the table as the targets in that specification article rather than a measured comparison.

- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
Choose a ray-tracing mode for the effects you want
The game has three ray-tracing modes, and their scope helps explain their different hardware demands. Ubisoft technology director Pierre F. describes them in the Tech Q&A published March 12, 2025:
- Selective: Ray tracing is confined to the Hideout.
- Standard: Uses GPU hardware ray tracing for real-time global illumination.
- Extended: Adds reflections to real-time global illumination.
If you are unsure which to start with, choose the mode in the tier nearest your hardware and performance goal. Moving to a more extensive mode changes the visual effects being rendered, not just a generic quality slider; compare results on your own PC before deciding whether the extra effects are worth the cost.

Use presets and upscaling as starting points
Assassin’s Creed Shadows includes five scalability presets, three ray-tracing modes, and approximately 20 configurable options. It supports NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS 2 for upscaling and frame generation, as well as the game’s Temporal AA. Ubisoft says players can combine one upscaler with another frame-generation technology.
Upscaling reconstructs the displayed image from a lower rendering resolution; dynamic resolution can adjust that pre-upscaled resolution toward a frame-rate target. That means a tier that names 1440p or 4K should not automatically be described as delivering that resolution natively. If you enable an upscaler or dynamic resolution, note the choice when comparing image quality or performance.

Tune settings with the in-game benchmark
- Set your target. Choose the resolution and frame rate you actually want, then find the closest Ubisoft tier for your CPU, GPU, and preferred ray-tracing scope.
- Apply a starting point. Select the corresponding scalability preset and ray-tracing mode. Use the tier’s stated preset as a baseline, not a guarantee.
- Choose reconstruction settings. Decide whether to use native anti-aliasing, an upscaler, frame generation, or dynamic resolution. Keep track of the options so you can compare like with like.
- Run the benchmark. Ubisoft includes an in-game benchmark for consistent comparisons and a performance overlay with metrics such as FPS and GPU utilization.
- Change only a few options at once. Rerun the benchmark after each small group of changes. This makes it easier to identify which trade-offs help your system, rather than relying on a preset name or another player’s result.
Ubisoft’s technology director says the benchmark is intended “to assist in calibrating the options” and provide “consistent and reproducible results.” Its value is in comparing settings on your own PC; it does not establish a universal best combination.
Adjust the controls that affect preference, not performance targets
PC players can set the field of view from 85% to 115%, toggle motion blur, and choose native anti-aliasing or an upscale option. A wider field of view changes how much of the scene you see; it is not a universal performance fix. Motion blur is a visual preference, so decide whether you like the effect rather than treating either setting as mandatory.

Check the PC requirements before troubleshooting
Ubisoft’s PC requirements list Windows 10 or Windows 11 with DirectX 12, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM, and an SSD with 106 GB of storage. The Ubisoft Store requirements page is the reference for those installation requirements. The SSD requirement is not evidence that replacing an SSD will raise frame rate; check your available storage and your system’s drive interface and form factor if you need to add capacity.
