ASUS unveiled a broad range of gaming laptops built around NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series Laptop GPUs at CES 2025. The lineup spans flagship ROG Strix SCAR systems with up to an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, slim Zephyrus models, the detachable ROG Flow Z13 and more affordable TUF machines. ASUS began taking preorders on February 25, 2025, and said initial Strix SCAR, Strix G18 and Zephyrus systems would start shipping March 31, 2025. Availability has always depended on the model, configuration and country.
The important correction to the launch headline is that 100% DCI-P3 is not universal across every ASUS RTX 50-series gaming laptop. ASUS specified that coverage for several premium ROG configurations, while US TUF listings commonly specify 100% sRGB instead.

Which ASUS laptops received RTX 50-series Laptop GPUs?
ASUS’s 2025 portfolio uses four laptop GPU tiers: the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 Laptop GPUs. “Up to RTX 5090” describes a family ceiling, not the specification of every retail unit. Laptop GPU performance also varies with total graphics power (TGP), cooling, processor, memory and screen resolution; an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU is not equivalent to a desktop RTX 5090.

ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18: the performance-first option
The SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 are the least compromised gaming machines in the range. Cited configurations pair Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX with up to an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory, up to a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a GPU maximum total graphics power of up to 175W. Those are “up to” figures and vary by region and SKU.
The premium 16-inch and 18-inch panels are 2560×1600 at 240Hz, with Nebula HDR Mini LED technology, up to 1,200 nits HDR brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, Pantone Validation, G-SYNC and Dolby Vision HDR. Mini LED is attractive for bright HDR highlights and local dimming, while its trade-offs can include blooming and more complex backlight behavior.
Choose SCAR when sustained performance, cooling headroom, upgradeability and a large display matter more than carrying weight, price or battery life. The display and memory figures should not be assumed for every SCAR listing; confirm the configuration on ASUS’s SCAR specifications page and global lineup page.

ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16: premium portability
Zephyrus G14
The 2025 G14 combines an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with up to an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU in a chassis ASUS describes as approximately 3.46 pounds and 0.63 inches thick. Its cited display is a 3K 120Hz OLED Nebula panel with a 0.2ms response time and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. A US ASUS Store page snapshot listed a starting price of $2,199.99; pricing and stock are volatile.
Its appeal is the mix of small size, OLED contrast and wide-gamut color. It is a better fit for a traveling gamer or creator than a heavy SCAR, but buyers should not expect the same sustained power envelope or performance-per-dollar as a larger chassis.

Zephyrus G16
The G16 scales the concept up with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and configurations reaching an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. The cited OLED Nebula panel is 2.5K at 240Hz, with a 0.2ms response time; ASUS’s announcement identifies 100% DCI-P3 coverage for the premium display configuration. A US store snapshot listed a $2,799.99 starting price.
A thin chassis makes this combination unusually portable, but physical limits can affect sustained power, acoustics, thermals and battery life compared with SCAR. Treat the starting price as the entry configuration, not the cost of the RTX 5090 version.

ROG Strix G: high-end gaming without every SCAR feature
The Strix G16 and G18 use larger, aggressively cooled gaming chassis and sit below SCAR in ASUS’s hierarchy. The cited Strix G16 family reaches up to an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and up to 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory. A US ASUS Store snapshot showed a $1,899.99 starting price.
That figure is an entry price: it does not imply the top GPU, maximum memory, storage or premium display. ASUS offers multiple panels and configurations, so inspect the exact SKU before comparing it with a SCAR or Zephyrus. See the ROG Strix G16 product page.
ROG Flow Z13: a detachable alternative
The Flow Z13 targets buyers who value flexibility over the thermal headroom of a conventional gaming notebook. It is a convertible or detachable format with a 2.5K 180Hz display and 100% DCI-P3 coverage in the announced configuration. The tablet-style design is convenient for travel and mixed-use work, but a smaller cooling system, detachable keyboard and different port layout impose compromises. Check the individual configuration for its GPU and power limits.

TUF Gaming: RTX 5070 value, not guaranteed wide gamut
TUF Gaming A16, A18 and F16 models extend RTX 50-series graphics to a more price-conscious and durability-oriented audience. Current US listings include RTX 5070 Laptop GPU options. Catalog snapshots showed an A16 starting at $1,549.99, with one promotional snapshot at $1,399.99; an A18 listing showed $2,199.99; and F16 listings ranged from roughly $1,199.99 to $2,099.99 depending on configuration and promotion.
TUF panels include 2.5K 165Hz or 240Hz options, but the family does not support a blanket 100% DCI-P3 claim. Many US listings specify 100% sRGB instead. For a TUF purchase, verify the exact model code, GPU, RAM, SSD, operating system, resolution, refresh rate, brightness and color coverage in the catalog and relevant A16/F16 listings.
What 100% DCI-P3 actually tells you
DCI-P3 covers a wider range of colors than conventional sRGB. Full coverage can help HDR games, films, photography and video work look richer, but it is only a gamut measurement.
- It does not prove factory calibration or low Delta E.
- It does not guarantee high HDR brightness, OLED or Mini LED technology.
- It does not ensure that every application is color-managed correctly.
- It does not make a gaming laptop a complete professional workstation; ports, battery life, noise and workflow support still matter.
OLED panels generally deliver perfect-looking blacks and very fast response, but can have lower full-screen brightness and potential burn-in concerns. Mini LED can deliver much brighter HDR highlights, with possible blooming. A 240Hz refresh rate is valuable for competitive gaming but increases power demand and is not automatically preferable for every user.
ASUS’s premium display claims are documented in its SCAR specifications, Zephyrus announcement and ROG product overview. Treat them as family or configuration-level claims, not proof that every regional SKU uses the same panel.

ASUS announced the lineup at CES 2025, opened preorders on February 25 and announced initial shipping from March 31. There was no single release date for every laptop. Retail availability, specifications and prices differed by country and changed as stock and promotions changed.

The US figures above are historical store or catalog snapshots, not permanent prices and not worldwide recommendations. Before buying, open the exact regional listing and match the GPU, TGP where stated, display panel, RAM and SSD. A family’s “starting at” price almost never represents its highest GPU configuration.
Which ASUS family should you buy?
Choose ROG Strix SCAR
Choose SCAR for maximum sustained gaming performance, a large high-refresh Mini LED HDR screen and a chassis designed around cooling and upgrades. Accept higher cost and lower portability.

Choose Zephyrus for portability, OLED image quality and a less conspicuous design. The G14 tops out at the RTX 5080 Laptop GPU in the cited 2025 page; the G16 reaches RTX 5090 Laptop GPU configurations. Accept thinner-system trade-offs.
Choose Strix G
Choose Strix G when you want a powerful, larger gaming laptop and do not need every SCAR feature. Compare the exact panel and GPU rather than relying on the family label.
Choose Flow Z13
Choose Flow Z13 when a detachable format and tablet flexibility outweigh conventional gaming-laptop ergonomics and cooling capacity.
Choose TUF Gaming
Choose TUF when price, durability and mainstream 1080p or 1440p gaming matter most. Do not choose it on the assumption that it has a 100% DCI-P3 display; confirm the panel specification.

- Confirm the complete model code and country-specific listing.
- Identify the exact RTX 50-series Laptop GPU and its stated power limit.
- Check panel technology, resolution, refresh rate, brightness and gamut.
- Verify included RAM, SSD and operating system rather than relying on family maximums.
- Compare the actual price on the purchase date, noting whether it is a promotion.
- For color-sensitive work, look for calibration information in addition to DCI-P3 coverage.
ASUS’s 2025 lineup was broad and unusually display-focused, but its headline should be read precisely: 100% DCI-P3 belongs to selected premium ROG configurations, not every RTX 50-series ASUS gaming laptop.
