A PlayStation Plus promotional trial is not a universal code or permanent offer. If Sony shows a free-trial option for your eligible account, select it during PlayStation Plus signup, add the required payment method, and cancel automatic renewal before the displayed trial end date if you do not want a charge. Your access continues through the final day after cancellation.

Is a PlayStation Plus free trial available?
Sony describes trials as limited promotions that may depend on country, account status, previous subscription history, and other eligibility controls. The United States terms do not establish a permanent seven-day or 14-day offer, and each person is generally eligible for one trial unless Sony says otherwise. The checkout screen for your account is the authority for the trial length, plan tier, renewal interval, and price. See Sony’s PlayStation Plus usage terms.
If no free-trial option is shown, there may simply be no promotion available for that account or region. A discounted paid membership is not the same as a free trial.

What you need before starting
- A PlayStation Network account in a supported country or region.
- An account that meets applicable age, family-management, and parental-control requirements. Sony’s US terms describe PlayStation Plus for US and Canadian residents with a PlayStation account age of at least 7, subject to restrictions.
- An eligible credit or debit card or PayPal account. US terms generally require one for a free-trial offer; requirements vary by country.
- A payment method whose supported country and billing details match the account. A previous trial, active subscription, or recently expired subscription may affect eligibility.
- An internet connection for downloading games, online play, cloud storage, and other features.
Start the trial on PS5
- Sign in to the account that will use the membership.
- From the Games home screen, select the PlayStation Plus icon.
- Choose a membership plan and select the free-trial offer if it appears.
- Read the displayed trial duration, renewal date, billing frequency, and post-trial price.
- Add or confirm the requested payment method, then complete checkout.

Start the trial on PS4
- Sign in to the intended PlayStation Network account.
- From the PS4 Function screen, scroll right and select the PlayStation Plus icon.
- Follow the on-screen signup flow and select the free trial when offered.
- Check the trial end date, renewal frequency, and price that will apply afterward.
- Provide the required payment method and finish signup.
Start the trial on the web
- Sign in to your PlayStation account.
- Open the official PlayStation Plus page or the PlayStation Store subscription area.
- Select a plan, then choose the free trial only if Sony presents one for your account.
- Review every checkout term, including the exact end date and recurring price.
- Add a payment method if requested and confirm the transaction.
Web labels can change, so follow the current buttons shown after you sign in rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Cancel automatic renewal immediately
If you only want the trial, cancel as soon as signup succeeds. Cancellation stops the next payment but does not normally remove trial benefits early.
PS5
Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions. Select PlayStation Plus and choose the cancellation option.

PS4
Open Settings > Account Management > Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions. Select the subscription and cancel it.
Web or mobile
Use PlayStation’s current Store and subscription-support pages to open subscription management, then cancel PlayStation Plus. Menu names may vary by device and region.
Verify that the subscription is marked canceled or that automatic renewal is off, and record the displayed expiration date. Removing a card is not a substitute for cancellation. An empty PlayStation Wallet also does not necessarily prevent billing: Sony says its default payment method may be used when the wallet lacks sufficient funds.
What happens after cancellation?
You retain the trial’s benefits through its last day, and the membership does not renew if cancellation was completed before the next payment was due. After expiration, subscription-only benefits end unless you buy or renew a membership. Games claimed through PS Plus generally require an active, qualifying subscription and continued availability under the service’s terms; games purchased separately have their own licenses.

What the trial includes
The offer’s plan tier controls its benefits. Essential is generally aimed at online multiplayer for most paid games, monthly games, cloud storage, discounts, and Share Play. Extra adds the Game Catalog. Premium, where supported, adds the Classics Catalog, game trials, and cloud streaming. Check the offer and the current plan overview because catalog availability and features vary by region.
Many free-to-play games, including Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone, generally do not require PS Plus for online play. A PS Plus membership trial is also different from a game-specific trial: a Store page may label a limited version of one game “Free Trial” or “Add to Library,” with its own duration and requirements. Examples include Far Cry 6 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction.
Promotional trial versus a voucher code
Starting a promotional trial
You normally select the offer during PS Plus signup; no generic code is required.
Redeeming a subscription voucher
A physical or digital subscription voucher is a separate transaction. Codes are 12 digits, region-specific, and generally usable once. Some subscription vouchers still require a valid payment method.

- Online: Open PlayStation Store, select your profile icon, choose Redeem Code, enter the 12-digit code, and continue.
- PS5: Open PlayStation Store, press the triangle button, select More (…) > Redeem Code, enter the code, and select Redeem.
Follow Sony’s voucher-code instructions. A 10-digit code is generally a discount code, not a subscription voucher.
If the free-trial option is missing
- Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account.
- Check the account’s country or region and whether the payment method is supported there.
- Consider whether the account already used a PS Plus trial.
- Check for an active or recently expired membership that may block promotional eligibility.
- Read any banner, eligibility notice, or offer-specific terms.
- Update the console, restart it, and try the PlayStation Store on the web.
- Confirm that a supported card or PayPal account is registered.
- Review family-management, age, and parental-control settings.
- Contact PlayStation Support if the account appears eligible but checkout fails.
Do not create extra accounts to bypass eligibility. Sony says additional limitations may be used to prevent fraud or misuse.

A genuinely free checkout may authorize no immediate charge, but the payment method is retained for automatic renewal. Read the exact renewal amount and interval before confirming. If checkout shows a charge instead of a free trial, stop and inspect the plan and terms.
If the trial converted to a paid subscription, Sony’s US cancellation policy allows a cancellation or refund request within 14 days of the initial transaction, but the refund may be reduced in proportion to usage and is subject to the applicable policy and local law.
