Wild Shadowmanes rest during much of the daytime, but there is no dependable exact in-game hour for when they start or stop. A tamed Shadowmane is different: you can put it to sleep manually through its radial menu.
When do wild Shadowmanes sleep?
The ARK Official Community Wiki’s Shadowmane page says they rest for most of the time the sun is up, while remaining just as dangerous during the day as at night. It does not give a precise clock schedule, so claims that they always fall asleep at a particular hour are not established by that source.

Their resting periods can vary. The wiki observes that, if nothing nearby attracts their attention, a Shadowmane seems to rest for at least 20 seconds. That is a variable behavior observation, not a guaranteed sleep duration or fixed cycle.
How to approach a sleeping Shadowmane for passive taming
If you are trying to passive-tame a wild Shadowmane, the wiki advises approaching while it is asleep with a filled Fish Basket. Move in from behind or the side; approaching from the front can make it aggro. The creature is not harmless just because it is resting.

According to the wiki’s taming guidance, if the Shadowmane wakes because of your actions, taming progress resets to 0%. Take care not to disturb it while approaching or feeding it.
How to put a tamed Shadowmane to sleep
A tamed Shadowmane does not need to wait for its wild daytime rest pattern. Use the Sleep option in its radial menu to make it sleep in place. The wiki says this applies the Chalico Sit Buff, reduces food consumption by 50%, and restores health at 2% per second until it reaches 50%.
