Their systems are not interchangeable. This guide explains the beginner loop in each so you can identify the game you have and focus on the right resources, battles, and progression goals.
First, identify which Atelier Resleriana you’re playing
The original mobile game centers on gathering, synthesis, and timeline battles. The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is a separate game for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, with a six-character party, shop sales, and restoration of the town of Hallfein. KOEI TECMO describes it as a parallel story in the same universe and timeline, and says newcomers can start there: “This will be Rias and Slade’s first encounters with the wanderers as well as with Resna and her friends, so newcomers can jump right in!” (Official FAQ)

Beginner’s guide to the original mobile game
Build around the gather–synthesize–battle loop
Explore dungeons to collect materials, combine materials and character traits through synthesis, then use your crafted items and character skills in battles. The official overview says dungeon bosses gate higher difficulty levels, which offer better rewards; score battles provide another route to material rewards. (Official mobile systems page)
Keep stamina and synthesis mana separate
The official page identifies Training Quests as stamina-consuming content for experience and enhancement materials. It says story progress does not consume stamina, while synthesis uses mana that recovers over time. In practical terms, you can continue the story without spending stamina, use Training Quests when you need their materials or experience, and allow for mana recovery when planning repeated synthesis. The page does not state current stamina or mana quantities, recovery speed, or caps.

Use the available character-growth systems
The official page presents power-up materials, the Growboard, and Memoria as progression tools. Memoria are illustration cards equipped to strengthen characters. The publisher also says even one-star characters can stand out; treat that as general encouragement, not a guarantee that every low-rarity character is optimal in every mode.

Learn how the six-person team and battle resources work
You can bring six characters into battle: three in front and three in back. Normal attacks generate AP for skills, while TP is shared across the party and supports Multi-Actions and Interrupts. Equipped items can be used in battle. Back-row members can assist or replace a fallen front-row character, so the full formation matters, not just the three active frontliners. Use Gift Colors to transfer traits in synthesis
In Gift Color Synthesis, connect ingredient colors to transfer traits to the finished item. Arrangement ingredients can strengthen the result, and some ingredients unlock recipes. Let exploration, crafting, and Hallfein development reinforce one another
Dimensional Paths have multiple levels and layouts that change between visits; higher difficulty can yield rarer ingredients. Sell crafted items in Rias’ shop to earn money for Hallfein’s development. Developing the town can open recipes and further story content, linking gathering and synthesis to the shop and restoration systems. (Official game overview)
