Mother Jago’s book is in the upper library of the Castle Ruins in Casterfell Woods—not in the chamber with the glowing blue hole. Cross the side bridge from that chamber, climb the route of ladders and stairs, and check the back table. Then take the book to Mother Jago at the Old Mine.
Where to find Mother Jago’s book
Head to the Castle Ruins in the Druids’ Camp, in the southwest of Casterfell Woods. One guide gives the entrance as approximately 20.6 E, 83.7 N. Druids guard the surrounding camp, so you can approach using stealth or fight your way in.
Inside the ruins, the first chamber is easy to recognize by its large glowing blue hole. The book is not in that room. Look for the bridge off to the side, cross it, and continue upward along the route of ladders, staircases, and hills until you reach the upper library. The book is on a table at the back, among the candles.
Alternate ways into the upper library
If you are approaching from another part of the ruins, you do not have to retrace the route from the blue-hole chamber. The same upper area can be reached through a secret passage behind the castle throne or by climbing up from the lower ruins. Whichever approach you use, search the back table in the upper library.

Make sure you pick up the book, not the recipe
The Strange Tonic Recipe is a separate pickup nearby. The book and recipe are reported on different surfaces: look for the book on the large table and the recipe on a neighboring desk. Picking up the recipe alone does not complete Mother Jago’s request.

Mother Jago is at the Old Mine in northeastern Casterfell Woods, around 27.2 E, 92.2 N. Speak with her to start the request, then return with the book. Finding one of her leaflets can point you toward the mine and add a dialogue option, but it is not required to locate her.

After you return the book, her route continues to the Speaking Cave, around 23.0 E, 85.4 N. There, place an offering in the bowl beneath the wooden structure. If you want to stay on Mother Jago’s route, avoid choosing the confrontational response. One walkthrough also reports that returning the book grants three stimulants; that reward detail is not confirmed by an official source.
