There are four keys for the Abbey Crypt in Atomfall: Wicked Isle: Brother Osbern’s, Brother Aldred’s, Brother Lantfred’s, and Abbot John’s. They are buried across Casterfell Woods, Wyndham Village, Skethermoor, and Midsummer Isle. Bring an upgraded Metal Detector to locate the caches, then use all four keys on the door in the Abbey Crypt; they can be used in any order.
Before you search for the keys
Wicked Isle is a separate expansion and requires the base game, Atomfall, according to Rebellion’s Steam product listing. The expansion adds Midsummer Isle, which you reach by boat from Wyndham Village, as described by Rebellion Head of Design Ben Fisher in Xbox Wire’s developer article.
Check your save before making the trip: Rebellion’s Atomfall FAQ says Wicked Isle cannot be accessed in a save where you have already achieved an ending.
The route clues come from the monks’ memories and the notes they reveal. A detailed GameFAQs walkthrough gives the cache locations and coordinates below. Its coordinates are walkthrough guidance, not locations published on Rebellion’s official pages.

Use an upgraded Metal Detector to find the buried caches. The clue trail points to the general areas: Lantfred’s memory is by the Lime Kilns, Osbern’s is inside the Observatory Tower, and Aldred’s clues lead first to the scriptorium and then to the Harvesting Cave. The Abbot John cache is associated with Aldred’s second memory.
How to open the Abbey Crypt
- Go to Midsummer Abbey and descend from the main hall into the Abbey Crypt.
- Cross the tomb room to the sealed door with four keyholes.
- Use the four crypt keys on the door. The walkthrough says they work in any order.
- Go through the opened door into the passage; opening it triggers a memory vision.
Key name discrepancy
The detailed walkthrough spells the Wyndham Village key “Brother Aldred’s Crypt Key.” The community Atomfall Wiki entry for Wicked Isle uses “Alfred’s Crypt Key.” The walkthrough’s spelling is used here; the in-game spelling has not been independently confirmed.
