Verdict: The Aurzen EAZZE D1R air is a genuinely convenient 1080p Roku TV projector for bedrooms, dim living rooms and after-dark outdoor movie sessions. Its 180-degree gimbal, time-of-flight autofocus and automatic keystone correction make repositioning unusually easy, while built-in Roku removes the need for a separate streaming stick. The trade-off is fundamental: its modest light output needs a dark environment, and USB-C portability depends on a suitably powerful USB-C PD battery.
This review covers the exact EAZZE D1R air model. It is not the earlier EAZZE D1R or the D1R Cube.

What the Aurzen EAZZE D1R air is
The EAZZE D1R air is a compact LCD/LED projector with Roku TV integrated into the projector itself. Aurzen positions it as a portable streaming display rather than a bright, permanent home-theater projector. The intended environments are a dim bedroom, a living room with lights lowered, or an outdoor screen after sunset.
The product carries native 1,920 × 1,080 resolution and a manufacturer-rated output of up to 300 ANSI lumens. That combination is appropriate for a moderate-size image in low light, not for replacing a television in a sunny room. Aurzen recommends an image around 80 inches for everyday viewing in suitable light. ProjectorCentral lists a usable 40-to-150-inch range, but increasing the image size spreads the available light over more area.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Its defining hardware feature is a 180-degree gimbal. You can aim the lens toward a wall, ceiling or screen without moving the whole base, then let the projector’s ToF (time-of-flight) autofocus and automatic keystone correction tidy up the image. That flexibility is valuable in a bedroom or temporary gaming setup where a conventional front-facing projector is awkward to place.

Full product details and the manufacturer’s FAQ are available on Aurzen’s EAZZE D1R air product page.
Picture quality: good 1080p detail, but only in the right light
Native 1080p means the projector is not merely accepting a 1080p signal and shrinking it to a lower-resolution panel. Text, game interfaces and subtitles can therefore retain the detail expected from a Full HD source. The 16:9 panel also matches modern games, films and television without requiring an unusual screen shape.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Brightness is the deciding factor. A 300-ANSI-lumen class projector works best after you turn off or substantially dim room lights. In a bedroom at night, that can produce a satisfying large image. In daylight, with ceiling fixtures on, or against a wall receiving window light, blacks look lifted and colors lose impact. The manufacturer specifically describes dim rooms, bedrooms and nighttime outdoor viewing as the target conditions; its approximately 80-inch recommendation should be read in that context.
The listed 40-to-150-inch range describes what the optics can form, not a promise that every size will look equally bright. A smaller image concentrates the available light and is more forgiving. If you want a very large outdoor picture, wait until it is fully dark and use a reasonably neutral, matte surface. A white wall can work, but wall texture and color will affect perceived sharpness and contrast.

ProjectorCentral lists a fixed focal length, a 1.25:1 throw ratio and 1,000:1 full-on/full-off contrast. Those numbers help with installation planning, but they do not turn the Air into a high-output home-theater unit. There is no independent brightness or color test in the available review material, so treat the 300-ANSI figure as Aurzen’s specification rather than a laboratory result from this review.
Roku TV setup and streaming
Roku is built into the projector, so supported streaming applications run on the projector’s own interface. You do not need to occupy the HDMI port with a separate streaming stick for those services. The convenience is especially useful when the projector is moved between rooms or taken outdoors.

Activation is not optional. The Air needs an internet connection and a Roku account during setup. Creating the account is free, but individual streaming services can still require their own subscriptions. Plan to complete activation where Wi-Fi is available before carrying the projector outside; a battery can power the hardware, but it cannot replace an internet connection.
- Provide power. Connect the supplied mains cable or a USB-C source that meets the required power level.
- Position the projector. Use the gimbal to point the lens at your wall or screen. Keep the surface as square to the lens as practical so digital correction does not have to work excessively.
- Join Wi-Fi. Select your wireless network in the Roku setup flow and enter its password.
- Sign in or create a Roku account. Follow the on-screen activation instructions. Roku account creation itself has no fee.
- Install or open services. Add the apps you use and sign in to any service that has a separate subscription requirement.
- Check updates before travel. Let the projector finish system and app updates while connected to reliable home internet.
AirPlay and Android device mirroring are listed among the wireless features. Their usefulness depends on the sending device, network and app permissions; they are alternatives for compatible content, not a guarantee that every protected streaming video can be mirrored.
Placement: the gimbal is the standout convenience
A conventional portable projector often has to sit on a stack of books or a tripod at exactly the right height. The D1R air’s 180-degree gimbal lets you rotate the projection direction while leaving the base in place. That makes ceiling viewing in bed, a side-wall projection or a quick change from table to floor much less frustrating.

ToF autofocus measures distance in real time, and automatic keystone correction reshapes the image when the projector is not perfectly perpendicular to the surface. CGMagazine’s Matt Keith described focus and keystone adjustment as quick and praised the positioning range in his May 27, 2026 review.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →There is a trade-off to this flexibility. Keystone is digital geometry correction: it changes the image’s pixels rather than physically moving the lens. Heavy correction can reduce the effective image area and make fine text or game menus less crisp than a carefully aligned picture. For the best result, use the gimbal to get close to square first, then let autofocus and keystone make the final adjustment. If you are installing a permanent screen, a physically aligned mount will preserve more of the panel’s native detail.
Power and genuinely portable use
The projector accepts USB-C power as well as standard mains power. Aurzen’s May 27, 2026 launch announcement says the Air is compatible with 65W fast-charging power banks, and CGMagazine likewise reports that USB-C use requires a 65W-or-higher supply.
That does not mean every USB-C battery will run it. Before buying a battery, confirm that its USB-C port supports USB Power Delivery (PD) at the required wattage and voltage profiles. A bank that advertises a high total capacity but only offers low-wattage output from its USB-C port may fail to start the projector or may trigger shutdowns under load. No specific power-bank model has been confirmed or tested here.
For an outdoor session, charge the battery fully, test the complete projector-and-battery combination indoors, and carry a mains fallback when practical. The Air’s portability removes the outlet, not the need for darkness, a stable surface and a network connection for Roku features.

Built-in sound and external audio
Two 5W speakers and Dolby Audio support are integrated into the unit, so a movie does not require another box to produce sound. That is enough for personal viewing and a small room, and it keeps a temporary setup simple.
In CGMagazine’s review, Keith found the speakers functional but lacking meaningful bass and suggested Bluetooth audio as an upgrade. Treat that as one reviewer’s listening impression, not a standardized acoustic measurement. For dialogue-heavy television they may be adequate; action games and films with a substantial soundtrack will benefit from a Bluetooth speaker, headphones or a wired system connected to the 3.5 mm audio output. Bluetooth performance will depend on the speaker and on whether its latency is acceptable for your use.
Connections and everyday flexibility
The physical inputs cover the basics: HDMI for a console, laptop or disc player; USB-A for compatible local media or accessories; USB-C for power; and 3.5 mm audio out for wired sound. Dual-band Wi-Fi handles Roku and network features, while Bluetooth 5.2 supports wireless audio and compatible peripherals.
For a game console, HDMI is the relevant connection. The available specifications do not state input-lag figures, refresh-rate modes beyond the 1080p presentation, or a dedicated low-latency setting. Competitive players should therefore not assume television-class latency. The Air makes more sense for single-player games, party play and couch co-op in a dark room than for buying specifically around esports performance.
What the D1R air is like to move and live with
At 2.66 pounds, the unit is light enough to carry between rooms without becoming an afterthought. The gimbal means you can change viewing direction quickly, and automatic focus reduces the ritual of adjusting a focus wheel every time you move it. Those are practical advantages over a cheap projector that is portable only in the sense that it can be unplugged.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Portability still involves compromises. You must pack a suitable power source for outlet-free use, preserve enough darkness for the image, and arrange Wi-Fi or another supported network path for Roku. A projector screen is optional, but a flat, neutral surface is not: a textured or colored wall can undermine the image regardless of the projector’s electronics.
D1R air versus the similarly named EAZZE D1R
Model names are unusually easy to confuse. Notebookcheck’s May 1, 2026 hands-on article covers the separate EAZZE D1R, not the EAZZE D1R air. Its reported 280 ANSI lumens, 60-to-200-inch image range, chassis observations, fan comments and dust-sealing discussion must not be applied to the Air.
| Model | Brightness information | Image-size information | How to identify the distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| EAZZE D1R air | 300 ANSI lumens listed by Aurzen and ProjectorCentral | 40–150 inches listed by ProjectorCentral | Portable Roku TV model with 180-degree gimbal and USB-C power input |
| EAZZE D1R (non-Air) | 280 ANSI lumens reported by Notebookcheck | 60–200 inches reported by Notebookcheck | Separate chassis and separate hands-on coverage |
Check the exact model name on the box and retailer listing before ordering accessories or relying on a specification. The D1R Cube is another distinct product and is not covered by this review.
Price, availability and warranty context
Aurzen’s May 27, 2026 launch announcement gave the United States a regular price of $239.99 and a limited-time launch price of $149.99. It listed Canada at CA$219.99 regular and CA$199.99 introductory. Those figures were announcement prices, not a current quotation; check the live listing, region and exact variant before buying. The announcement said Amazon US availability began in May 2026.
ProjectorCentral lists a one-year warranty for the D1R air. Warranty coverage, return windows and service terms can vary by seller and country, so read the terms attached to the listing you actually purchase from. Aurzen also presents an EAZZE D1R air and PowerBase Projector Stand bundle; confirm compatibility if you buy a stand separately.
Strengths and limitations
Reasons to choose it
- Native 1080p output suits films, television and non-competitive console gaming.
- Integrated Roku TV avoids a separate streaming stick for supported apps.
- The 180-degree gimbal makes ceiling, side-wall and temporary placements practical.
- ToF autofocus and automatic keystone reduce setup time after moving the unit.
- USB-C input enables outlet-free use when paired with a compatible 65W-plus PD power bank.
- HDMI, wireless mirroring, Bluetooth and 3.5 mm audio provide several source and sound options.
Reasons to look elsewhere
- The light output is intended for dim rooms and nighttime use, not bright daytime viewing.
- Large images become less forgiving as ambient light increases.
- Digital keystone is convenient but can reduce effective sharpness compared with careful physical alignment.
- The built-in speakers may sound thin in bass-heavy films and games, according to CGMagazine’s reviewer.
- Roku activation requires internet access and a Roku account, and many apps still require their own subscriptions.
- No tested input-lag result or competitive-gaming mode is documented in the available material.
Who should buy the Aurzen EAZZE D1R air?
Choose it if your priority is a movable, self-contained streaming projector for a dark bedroom, a modest living room or outdoor viewing after sunset. It is particularly appealing when you regularly change projection direction, because the gimbal and automatic adjustments solve problems that otherwise require a stand, careful measurement and repeated manual focusing.
It is a poor fit if you need a projector that remains punchy with daylight or strong ceiling lights, if you want a very large image regardless of room conditions, or if your purchase is driven by measured competitive-gaming latency. In those cases, compare brighter models using independently reported ANSI or ISO output, native resolution, throw ratio, correction method, audio options, power requirements, current price and warranty rather than choosing on portability alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFinal verdict
The EAZZE D1R air gets the portable-projector formula mostly right by concentrating on convenience: Roku is built in, the image is natively 1080p, the gimbal allows unusual placement, and autofocus plus keystone make movement painless. Its success depends on accepting the environmental limit that comes with its compact, modest-output design. In a dark room or after sunset, it is a compelling way to turn a wall into a streaming or gaming screen; in a bright room, its flexibility cannot compensate for insufficient light.
