Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, the new 2D fighter set in the Avatar universe, became available on July 23, 2026. Developed by Gameplay Group International and published by PM Studios, it launched with 12 playable characters on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
What is Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game?
It is a one-on-one fighting game drawing on Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra and the wider Avatar universe. The game’s official listings describe a 12-character playable launch roster, with fighters and abilities inspired by the franchise’s characters and bending styles. Gameplay Group International’s March 30, 2026 announcement also described the 12-fighter launch roster.

When did it release, and where can you play it?
The current release date is July 23, 2026. The game is listed for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Steam, PM Studios and Paramount Press Express list July 23 availability; Nintendo’s UK listing also gives that date.
An earlier date appeared in a March 30 PlayStation Blog post: Gameplay Group International brand manager Geoff Mendicino said the game would release on July 2. Later publisher and storefront information lists July 23, so July 2 was the earlier announcement, not the current release date.

How does the fighting system work?
Flow movement and Energy Points
The advertised Flow system centers on movement: players can dash, evade and reposition. Energy Points are used for enhanced special moves and Super Arts. The game also lets players choose a support character to accompany their fighter; according to the official listings, supports affect playstyles and can unlock strategic special moves.
Solo, local and online play
Listed modes include story, arcade, training, offline and online versus, and an art gallery. Current Steam and Nintendo listings also mention ranked play, while Nintendo lists spectator mode. Steam and PM Studios describe rollback netcode and cross-play for online play.

What is included, and is it built for beginners?
The official listings present the game as accessible to newcomers, while also advertising tutorials and practice tools such as hitboxes, frame data, save states and replay takeover. These are listed features, not an independent assessment of how well the game teaches or supports competitive play.
Steam lists a Digital Deluxe Edition that includes the game, a digital soundtrack, a digital artbook and a Year 1 Pass. The pass is planned to add Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin and the winner of a character vote. Those are future content plans in the listing; they should not be taken to mean all five additions are already available.

What does it cost?
Gameplay Group International announced a $29.99 Standard Edition launch price in its March 30, 2026 PlayStation Blog post. That is a dated launch-price announcement, not a guarantee of today’s price in every region or storefront; check the relevant store for current local pricing.

Nintendo’s UK listing identifies the game as Switch download software and lists the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as compatible. The listing does not say that a Pro Controller is required.
