Aviassembly does not have a verified, official catalogue of cheat codes in the available documentation. The page commonly surfaced for “Aviassembly cheats” is a third-party guide to building a basic VTOL. You can unlock aircraft capability legitimately by earning mission money, researching parts, upgrading them, and reaching new airports and islands. If you want unlock controls instead, an unofficial AviStupid Menu mod advertises them for the Windows version, but it requires BepInEx 5 and may stop working after a game or mod update.
What “Aviassembly cheats” actually refers to
Aviassembly is a single-player aircraft-building simulation from Jelle Booij. It entered Steam Early Access on April 11, 2025. The official store description presents a loop of designing aircraft, taking missions, earning money, researching and upgrading parts, and exploring additional airports and islands. That is the game’s intended unlock path.

Search results can make the word “cheats” misleading. Cheatbook’s “Aviassembly cheats and basic VTOL guide” is primarily a construction walkthrough. It describes a component recipe and how to assemble and fly a simple vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft, but the surfaced material does not establish a developer-supported cheat-code system. Treat its part counts and layout as community advice, not a universal blueprint or an official specification.

How normal unlocks work
The most reliable route is to play the progression loop rather than bypass it. Missions provide the money used to obtain or improve aircraft parts; research expands what you can use; upgrades make later missions and exploration practical. New airports and islands are part of that broader progression rather than a separate cheat menu.
A practical progression sequence
- Build a dependable starter aircraft. Prioritize controllability and reliable takeoff over maximum speed. A stable plane earns more useful mission experience than an ambitious design that cannot complete a route.
- Accept missions within the aircraft’s current capability. Check the distance, payload or handling demands before committing. Completing several modest jobs gives you money without forcing an underpowered design into a difficult flight.
- Spend earnings on research and upgrades. Research unlocks additional design possibilities, while upgrades improve the parts you already own. The two functions are complementary: one broadens the menu, the other raises the performance of familiar equipment.
- Use each new part in a controlled test. Change one major variable at a time and fly near a safe starting area. This makes it easier to identify whether a new engine, lift device or control surface caused a problem.
- Expand your operating area. Once the aircraft can complete longer or more demanding jobs, use missions and exploration to reach additional airports and islands.
Because Aviassembly is Early Access, exact unlock names, prices and ordering can change. A guide that shows a particular research sequence should be read as a snapshot of that version, not a promise that every player sees the same tree indefinitely.
How to build a basic VTOL
A VTOL must generate enough upward force to leave the ground, remain controllable while hovering, and then produce forward thrust for efficient flight. The community guide’s recipe is a useful starting point, but its exact component counts and placement have not been independently reproduced here. Use the current in-game part availability and the live guide together, and expect to adjust the design for your research level and payload.
1. Start with a balanced centre section
Place the main body, cockpit or equivalent central structure first. Keep the expected centre of gravity close to the middle of the craft. A long nose, heavy rear equipment or an off-centre fuel load will make hover control harder before you have even installed lift hardware.

2. Install vertical-lift equipment around the centre of gravity
Use the VTOL-capable lift components identified by the community recipe. Arrange left and right equipment symmetrically and avoid putting every lift source at one extreme of the airframe. Symmetry reduces unwanted roll; fore-and-aft spacing gives you leverage to correct pitch. If the editor shows a mass or balance indicator, check it after every major addition.
3. Add a separate source of forward thrust
Hover hardware is not automatically an efficient cruise system. Fit the forward-thrust components specified by the guide, aligned with the aircraft’s longitudinal axis. A thrust line above or below the centre of gravity can create a persistent nose-up or nose-down moment, so keep the arrangement as close to the centreline as the editor allows.
4. Fit control surfaces and stabilising parts
Install the available wings, fins or control surfaces needed for pitch, roll and yaw. Keep left and right surfaces matched. A VTOL that can rise vertically but has weak directional authority is not finished: it must also be able to stop a slide, point into the intended direction and transition to forward flight.

Adding another lift unit may solve a low-thrust problem while creating a heavier, less efficient aircraft. Review the craft’s mass and available power or fuel after the layout is complete. If the game reports an imbalance, correct placement or remove unnecessary equipment before increasing engine count.

6. Save a test version
Save the aircraft as a separate test design before making experimental changes. That gives you a known-good fallback when a new component introduces instability. Early Access updates can also alter part behaviour, making versioned designs valuable.
7. Test in stages
- Ground test: confirm that all required components are attached and that the aircraft responds to the expected controls.
- Hover test: apply small amounts of vertical lift. Look for immediate roll, pitch or yaw rather than trying to climb high.
- Low-altitude translation: move forward, backward and sideways at a safe height. This reveals whether lift sources are uneven or control authority is insufficient.
- Transition: gradually increase forward thrust while reducing reliance on vertical lift. A smooth transition is preferable to switching abruptly between modes.
- Landing test: reverse the process and descend slowly. If the aircraft drops or yaws near the ground, adjust the lift balance before attempting a mission.
VTOL assembly problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Adjustment to try |
|---|---|---|
| Rolls immediately on lift-off | Left and right lift are not producing equal force, or the mass is off-centre. | Mirror the lift layout, recalculate the centre of gravity and remove asymmetrical equipment. |
| Nose rises or dives while hovering | Lift is too far forward or aft relative to the centre of gravity. | Move fore-and-aft lift sources toward the balance point or redistribute heavy parts. |
| Hover is possible but forward flight is weak | The design relies on vertical hardware without enough aligned forward thrust. | Increase or reposition the dedicated forward-thrust components, then retest the transition. |
| Craft slides instead of holding position | Unequal thrust, insufficient stabilisation or a control surface that is not mirrored. | Check symmetry and add only the stabilising parts needed to control the drift. |
| Transition causes a sudden flip | The thrust line changes the aircraft’s pitch moment faster than the controls can correct it. | Lower the transition rate, align forward thrust nearer the centreline and reduce excess weight. |
| Aircraft cannot leave the ground | Total mass exceeds available vertical thrust, or a required part is not unlocked or connected. | Remove payload, verify the research requirement and inspect every lift connection. |
These are design principles rather than guaranteed fixes for a particular patch. Aviassembly’s flight model and part behaviour can change during Early Access, so use the smallest safe test that isolates one variable.
Normal progression versus an unlock mod
There are two distinct approaches. Standard progression preserves the mission, research and exploration loop. An optional third-party modification is aimed at players who specifically want controls over unlocks or other game systems.
| Route | What it provides | Requirements and trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| In-game progression | Money from missions, research and upgrades, then access to broader aircraft options and new locations. | No external framework. It is the intended single-player progression, but it takes mission time and may change as Early Access develops. |
| AviStupid Menu (unofficial) | The mod page advertises unlock, economy, movement and map controls. | The page lists Aviassembly on Windows x64 and BepInEx 5 as prerequisites. Compatibility, installation instructions and behaviour can change with updates; no independent safety or compatibility result is established. |
What to check before using the mod
- Confirm that your game is the Windows x64 edition named by the mod page.
- Install the exact BepInEx 5 release and folder structure required by the current instructions, rather than relying on an old video or repost.
- Back up saves and keep an unmodified copy of the game so you can return to standard progression if the game fails to start.
- After a game update, check whether the mod author has marked the new version as supported. Do not assume that a previously working build remains compatible.
- Use unlock controls deliberately. Skipping research can remove the reason to run missions and may make it harder to diagnose whether a later aircraft problem is a design issue or a changed game state.
The mod is not required to unlock VTOL construction. It is an optional, unofficial route for players who accept third-party software and possible version conflicts.

Where community “secrets” fit
Steam’s Community guide index groups player-created material into walkthroughs, gameplay basics, crafting, achievements and secrets. These guides can reveal efficient mission order, explain a confusing crafting step or show an example aircraft. Their value is practical, but their authority is limited: they are written by players, and an Early Access patch can invalidate a control description or part interaction.
Use a community guide as a reference for a specific obstacle. Compare its terminology with the labels in your current build, and treat any claim about a hidden unlock, exact part count or guaranteed aircraft behaviour as version-dependent unless the developer documents it.

Can I use the AviStupid Menu on other platforms?
The surfaced mod page lists Aviassembly on Windows x64 and BepInEx 5. It does not establish support for other platforms.
Why does a copied VTOL blueprint behave differently?
Part availability, balance, flight-model changes and Early Access updates can all matter. Recheck the centre of gravity, thrust symmetry and current component behaviour instead of assuming the community layout is universal.
Are the community VTOL part counts developer-approved?
No. They are the guide author’s recommendation and should be validated against your current game version.
