Yes—but only in a specific, dated sense. Windows Central reported on February 14, 2025, that Avowed was No. 1 on Steam’s U.S. Top Sellers chart during its early-access period. Steam ranks that chart by revenue, not copies sold, so the claim does not establish that Avowed sold more units than every other game.
What the February 2025 claim means
The report was a snapshot of Steam’s U.S. chart before Avowed’s standard-edition launch on February 18, 2025. It concerned one storefront, one country, and a revenue-based ranking—not lifetime sales or a year-end result. Windows Central’s February 14 report described the game as leading while it was available early to eligible buyers.
That scope matters: the report did not include purchases or play through Battle.net, the Xbox app on PC, or Xbox Series X|S. It therefore cannot establish that Avowed was the best-selling game across all platforms or retailers.
Steam’s chart ranks revenue, not copies
Valve labels the U.S. chart “Top 100 selling games right now, by revenue.” A No. 1 position means the game ranked first by revenue under that chart’s method at the time of the observation. It does not reveal the number of copies sold, and it is not a direct comparison of unit sales with other games. Steam’s U.S. Top Sellers chart is a changing live ranking; its current position cannot confirm a past result.

Early access and launch timing
Windows Central reported that Avowed had not yet reached its standard-edition launch when it covered the chart position. Premium Edition buyers could play earlier, and Game Pass subscribers could purchase a Premium Upgrade for early access. The standard edition launched on February 18, 2025.
At launch, the game was reported available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam, the Xbox app, and Battle.net. The standard edition was included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at that time. What later rankings can—and cannot—show
SteamDB’s archived global weekly seller chart for March 4–11, 2025 placed Avowed at rank 76. That later chart is a different measure and scope from the February 14 U.S. live chart: it is a global weekly ranking, not a continuation of the same snapshot. The cited coverage does not provide a verified unit-sales figure for Avowed’s Steam U.S. chart period. A chart rank alone cannot be converted into copies sold or a precise revenue total. Windows Central noted that further data from firms such as Circana would be needed to assess performance more fully.
