How many people were playing Avowed on Steam before it officially released?
SteamCharts lists 19,161 concurrent players as Avowed’s all-time peak and its peak for February 2025. The page’s available details do not identify the exact day of that monthly peak, so they do not establish that it happened during early access.
SteamDB reports a nearby but different figure: 19,198 concurrent players on February 23, 2025. That date was after Avowed’s official February 18 release. The two figures are tracker-reported peaks, not publisher-reported player totals.

What did “before official release” mean?
Avowed’s early access began on February 13, 2025, for Premium Edition purchasers and people who bought the Premium Upgrade. Obsidian confirmed on that date that early access was live. The official release followed on February 18.
Xbox Wire said Premium Edition purchasers could start up to five days early. The early-access window was an advance start for eligible buyers, not a separate public launch date. SteamDB lists the Steam release timestamp as February 18, 2025 at 18:01:28 UTC.

Does the Steam player count show how many copies Avowed sold?
No. Concurrent-player figures count people playing on Steam at the same time; they do not show copies sold, unique players over time, or the game’s full audience. The SteamCharts page describes its figures as an analysis of Steam concurrent players, with data powered by Steam, and says it is not affiliated with Valve.

Avowed was also available through routes beyond Steam. Xbox’s launch announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on Windows PC, Battle.net, Steam, cloud, and Game Pass. A Steam-only chart therefore cannot measure everyone who played the game. The cited sources do not provide a publisher-reported sales figure or total-player count.
