The excerpts on Metacritic’s page emphasize Avowed’s storytelling, worldbuilding, characters, exploration, flexible combat, and meaningful choices. VG247’s February 13, 2025 review calls it “strong storytelling, great combat, lovely visuals, and utterly charming.” Gameliner, also dated February 13, 2025, describes it as “a strong RPG with its own identity, deep story and impactful choices.” These are the outlets’ judgments, not a guarantee that every player will respond the same way.

What changed after launch
Avowed released on February 18, 2025, according to its Steam listing. On February 17, 2026, Xbox Wire reported that the anniversary update had gone live and that the PlayStation 5 version launched with the updates released during the prior year included. The update added:
- New Game+ and Photo Mode
- The quarterstaff weapon type
- Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan as playable races
- Custom difficulty options and character customization
- Quality-of-life changes
Xbox Wire’s anniversary announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, ROG Xbox Ally, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, and Steam, and said the game was available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Choosing a platform or edition
Xbox Wire’s February 17, 2026 announcement listed US-facing prices of $49.99 for Standard and $59.99 for Premium. Those are dated figures, not a promise of current pricing. The same announcement described Premium as including the base game, up to five days’ early access, two skin packs, and access to the digital artbook and soundtrack.

That is Steam user-review data—not a critic score—and both the percentage and review count can change.
