Hollow Knight: Silksong is already out—but not for Wii U. Team Cherry’s current list of supported platforms includes PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Wii U is not on that list, and the available official information does not establish that a Wii U version was ever announced.
Is Hollow Knight: Silksong coming to Wii U?
There is no Wii U version on Team Cherry’s official platform list. That is the clearest answer for anyone hoping to play the sequel on Nintendo’s older console: Team Cherry does not currently list Wii U as a supported platform.

That absence does not prove the game was once planned for Wii U and then cancelled. The official sources reviewed establish the platforms on which Silksong is available, but do not establish that Team Cherry ever announced or considered a Wii U release.
Silksong has already been released
Team Cherry announced on August 21, 2025, that Hollow Knight: Silksong would launch on September 4. On release day, the developer confirmed, “Hollow Knight: Silksong is available now!” and said it was available on all platforms, including day one on Xbox Game Pass. Its announcement listed Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PS4, PS5, GOG, and Humble as launch platforms. Team Cherry’s current platform list also names PC, Mac, and Linux alongside the consoles. Nintendo’s US store listing gives September 4, 2025, as the release date for its digital Switch edition; Nintendo Canada said on release day that the game was available for both Switch and Switch 2. What Wii U owners can—and can’t—take from that
The original Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong are separate games. Information about one should not be treated as evidence that the other was planned for the same platforms. The current official information supports a straightforward conclusion: Silksong is listed for newer platforms, but not Wii U.

What kind of game is Silksong?
Nintendo describes Silksong as the sequel to Hollow Knight, an action-adventure in which players journey through new lands, discover powers, battle creatures, and uncover secrets. Team Cherry describes its setting as a vast, interconnected world presented in a hand-crafted 2D style. Those descriptions explain the appeal, but they do not change the platform answer: Wii U is not among the supported systems Team Cherry currently lists.
