It was announced on 9 December 2025 and is a past stage of the awards: the 42-game nomination list followed on 12 March 2026, and the ceremony took place on 17 April 2026.
What the 2026 longlist represents
The longlist was an early selection round, not a ranking and not the final nominee list. BAFTA members selected the longlisted games from titles considered for the awards. The longlisted games then advanced to a second voting round. Members voted on nominations in Best Game and British Game; specialist juries voted in the other categories. After nominations, members chose the winners in Best Game and British Game, while juries decided the other categories.
BAFTA’s standard eligibility window ran from 16 November 2024 through 14 November 2025. Evolving Game was the exception, allowing earlier releases that received regular updates and significant enhancements to improve the game and support its community. BAFTA also states that remasters of games originally released outside the eligibility period were ineligible, while full remakes could qualify in craft categories only. A title’s appearance in one category does not mean it was longlisted in every category. The lists below preserve each category’s own selections and BAFTA’s title styling.

How the longlist differs from the nominees
BAFTA announced its nominations on 12 March 2026: 42 games across the 17 categories. That was a later selection stage than the 64-game longlist. The awards ceremony followed on 17 April 2026. For the completed nominations stage, consult BAFTA’s 2026 nominations announcement; the longlist above should not be read as the final nominees or winners.

Use the category lists above rather than the overall title count: some games appeared in several categories, while others appeared in only one. To decide which longlisted game to play, compare the title’s platform availability and gameplay style, and consider whether you want a standalone release or an ongoing game. BAFTA’s Games Awards pages provide information about individual titles and the categories, but the longlist itself does not rank games or recommend one over another.
