What kind of game is BAKERU?
Spike Chunsoft describes BAKERU as a single-player action adventure set in a fairy-tale version of Japan. The story follows Bakeru as he sets out to free Japan from Oracle Saitaro and the Festival Troops. He fights with a taiko drum and uses Henge Licenses to transform into heroes including Kintaro and Momotaro, gaining their abilities. These are the publisher’s descriptions, not a hands-on assessment.
The official site says the adventure spans all 47 prefectures and includes more than 50 stages. Those figures describe the setting and stage count respectively; they are not the same measure. Alongside action stages, the game includes vehicle racing, aerial shooting, and a giant-robot battle, according to Spike Chunsoft’s official BAKERU site.
