Balatro 1.1 is still in development, but developer LocalThunk has announced no release date or launch window. The latest reported previews point to a new voucher, a card-draw trigger, at least four new Jokers and another Blue Stake rework. Those details come from Discord messages reported by outlets—not final patch notes—and several effects remain undisclosed.
Is Balatro getting an update, and when will 1.1 arrive?
Yes. Balatro 1.1 remains in development, but there is no announced release date or launch window. In September 2026, LocalThunk reportedly said he would not provide concrete timing. He also explained that he did not want the update to be rushed: “I don’t want this to be half baked and wreck Balatro, I love the game too and I want to play a fun game not a rushed botch job,” PC Gamer reproduced from his Discord remarks. PC Gamer’s September 2026 report also says he expects to keep checking in with players.

That is consistent with his September 2025 timing correction. His Bluesky post described the schedule as “it’s done when it’s done” and said 1.1 would not arrive in 2025; it did not promise a replacement year. LocalThunk’s September 12, 2025 Bluesky post is not a release estimate, and the earlier expectation that the update might arrive in 2026 should not be treated as confirmation.
What has been reported for Balatro 1.1?
The following features were reported from LocalThunk’s Discord previews in September 2026. They are planned details, not a complete or final feature list.

| Blue Stake rework | Another rework was reported. | The new effect. |
The preview information was compiled by Dexerto and reported by PC Gamer. Neither report establishes that the described mechanics or names are final.
What is the Lunker voucher?
Lunker is the name reported for a new tier 2 voucher. Its effect has not been disclosed in the available September 2026 preview reporting, and no matching tier 1 voucher was identified there. The reported adjustment to tier 2 voucher offers is a separate part of the preview: availability would take account of tier 1 vouchers held without their paired tier 2 upgrade. The exact offering logic is not established as final.

How does the new card-draw trigger work?
The reported trigger activates when a card is drawn to the player’s hand. It was described as applying both in regular rounds and when cards appear in Tarot and Spectral packs. “Ace up your Sleeve” was used to demonstrate the mechanic, but the report does not confirm that name as a real, planned Joker. The preview therefore establishes a mechanic example, not its final card implementation.
Why are some Balatro 1.1 details still under wraps?
LocalThunk has said he does not want to commit to a launch window while development continues, and the reported previews were shared informally through Discord rather than as formal patch notes. The reported feature list is consequently incomplete: effects for Lunker and the reworked Blue Stake, as well as most Joker details, have not been stated. The developer’s stated concern about avoiding a rushed update explains the timing caution; it does not establish when the remaining details or a finished build will appear.

- Discord feature preview: a reported look at planned content; names, effects and implementation may still change.
- Official patch notes or a released build: the appropriate basis for describing what shipped and how it works.
- Release timing: no concrete launch window has been announced in the latest September 2026 reporting.
