Official mods came to Baldur’s Gate 3 on console with Patch 7, which began rolling out to console and Mac on October 1, 2024. Players can browse and install eligible community mods through the in-game Mod Manager—but the console catalog is curated, not a copy of the PC catalog, and console players have a 100-active-mod limit.
What Patch 7 brought to console
Larian’s October 1, 2024 Community Update announced that Patch 7 was rolling out to console and Mac, bringing an in-game Mod Manager for browsing, downloading, enabling, and disabling eligible community mods. The official Toolkit for making mods remained PC-only. At launch, Larian reported that 69 mods had passed internal testing and that players had made more than 15 million community-mod downloads; both figures describe the catalog and activity reported at that time, not today’s totals. How to get mods on PS5 or Xbox
- Open the in-game Mod Manager. Use it to browse the available console catalog.
- Read a mod’s description before installing. Some mods depend on another mod or require a particular settings change.
- Download and enable the mods you want. Keep the active console list at 100 or fewer.
- Review the consequences before changing an established setup. Disabling certain mods can affect a save or cause instability.

Why the console catalog differs from PC
Console availability depends on author submission and Larian’s review. Mod creators use the PC-only Toolkit and can request cross-platform availability; Larian’s community team checks submissions against its guidelines, followed by internal checks for basic functionality, usability, and stability. Technical constraints mean that not every PC mod can be approved for console or Mac. Larian’s Community Update 28

Patch 8 expanded Toolkit capabilities and updated the modding guidelines, but it did not make the Toolkit available on console. Larian also said mods that introduce new playable races could not be curated for console because of technical requirements. Console curation was set to continue. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement
Can PC mods and cross-platform saves work on console?
Not all PC mods transfer to console. Larian says a console save cannot be loaded if it uses PC mods that have not been approved for console. When opening a cross-save that uses supported mods, the game may prompt the console player to download them. Check the mod list and approval status before moving a save between platforms. Do mods disable achievements, and can removing them affect saves?
Yes. Larian’s official modding guide says achievements are automatically disabled while mods are being used. The same guide warns that disabling some mods may affect a save, so do not assume a mod can be removed safely from an ongoing playthrough. Larian’s modding information

No. Patch 7 is the update that brought official mod access to console; it is not the latest major patch. Larian described Patch 8, announced April 15, 2025, as the game’s final major patch, while saying console mod curation would continue. Smaller fixes followed: the latest official patch note established here is Hotfix 36, version 4.1.1.7209685, dated March 26, 2026, which addressed loading performance, crashes, and an Xbox tooltip bug.
