Yes: Baldur’s Gate 3 supports multiplayer cross-play between PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. To start, open Multiplayer → Cross-Play and create or join a lobby. For a modded session, every player needs the same mods and versions, and each mod must be available on the platforms in that session. Cross-save is a separate feature: a Larian Account syncs copies of your saves, not every local save automatically.

Cross-play and cross-save are related, but not interchangeable. Cross-play lets people on supported platforms join the same multiplayer session. Cross-save syncs save copies through a Larian Account; it does not mean every save stored locally on one device appears automatically on another.

Larian’s official FAQ describes four-player online multiplayer and split-screen co-op. Split-screen availability can depend on the platform and current game details, so check the platform-specific information for your setup rather than assuming the same local-play options apply everywhere. Do all players need the same mods?
Yes. Everyone joining a modded multiplayer game needs the same mods and mod versions. A mismatch can prevent a player from joining or a modded save from loading. Larian’s Patch 8 guidance also distinguishes mods supported on a platform from PC-only or third-party mods: a mod that is not available or approved for a player’s platform cannot be treated as compatible with the whole group.
Check platform availability before choosing mods
When a lobby includes a console or Mac player, check that each mod is available for that platform. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement says console players have a maximum of 100 mods. Do not assume that this limit or the platform availability of a particular mod is the same on every device; consult the current in-game mod information and Larian guidance. Can a modded PC save load on console or Mac?
Only if the save’s game version and mods are compatible with the destination platform. A supported mod may be offered for installation when loading a cross-save, but a PC mod that is not approved or available on console cannot be loaded there. The same practical check applies when moving a modded save between PC and Mac: confirm platform availability and version compatibility rather than assuming the save will transfer unchanged. How do you fix a mod mismatch in multiplayer?
Use the Verification Window that appears when the game detects differences between a player’s mods and the save or host session. Depending on the mismatch, it can prompt players to download missing mods, enable disabled ones, or update or downgrade versions to match. Larian outlines the process in its mod synchronisation instructions.

If the session still will not load, check for newly added or third-party mods, dependencies, conflicts, and changes introduced by a game update. Larian notes that these issues can affect mod behavior and modded-save loading; support for a mod does not guarantee that every combination will work reliably. Enable cross-save through your Larian Account to sync a copy of your saves between supported devices. Larian’s account support page says the service syncs a copy of your last 10 saves. That is a rolling set of copies, not a promise that every local save is backed up. Keep important saves on the device where they were made as well as checking your account’s current cross-save status. Larian Account information
The same support page displays a notice dated September 29, 2026, saying inactive cross-saves older than six months expire and are permanently deleted. That stated date has passed as of October 7, 2026, so check the live account page for the current retention notice rather than treating September 29 as a future deadline.

Before starting a shared campaign
- Confirm every player is on PC, Mac, Xbox, or PlayStation 5 and can access the Cross-Play lobby.
- Choose mods available on every platform in the group.
- Match the full mod list and each mod’s version across players.
- If a console player is involved, account for Larian’s stated 100-mod console maximum.
- Enable Larian Account cross-save if you want save copies synced, and retain important local saves.
