Baldur’s Gate 3 launched with Larian Account cross-saves announced for PC, Mac and PS5, NVIDIA DLSS 2 and DLAA announced for PC, and the ability to play on Steam Deck. Those launch announcements came with important distinctions: Larian Account cross-saves were temporarily disabled shortly after launch, and Steam Deck support does not include PC split-screen.
Which platforms were included in the launch announcements?
In July 2023, Larian announced an August 31, 2023 release date for PC, Mac and PS5, and described cross-progression among those platforms. The date and platform list reflect that announcement; they do not mean every version became available on the same day. Larian’s release announcement provides the launch context.

Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have cross-saves?
Yes. Larian’s July 2023 Community Update #22 said: “Baldur’s Gate 3, through virtue of our own accounts system, is cross-save compatible at launch.” It explained that players on PC, Mac or PS5 could upload saves through a Larian account and continue on another of those platforms.
There was a temporary launch-period interruption. On August 4, 2023, Larian said it had disabled Larian Account cross-saves while addressing an issue that blocked loading and saving; Steam cross-saves were unaffected. This was a dated incident, not a permanent platform restriction or a statement about the service’s current status. Larian’s Hotfix 1 notice describes the change.

Does the PC version support DLSS?
NVIDIA announced that the PC launch would include DLSS 2 and DLAA in an August 1, 2023 announcement. The announcement does not establish a Baldur’s Gate 3-specific performance multiplier, so there is no reliable launch figure to quote here. These NVIDIA graphics features should not be assumed to apply to PS5, Mac or Steam Deck versions.
Can you play Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam Deck?
Yes. Larian said the game could be played on Steam Deck at launch, and its current Steam Deck support FAQ lists Baldur’s Gate 3 among supported games. The launch statement establishes playability, not feature parity with PC or specific performance settings.
Does Steam Deck support split-screen?
No. Larian’s multiplayer FAQ says split-screen is available on PC but not Steam Deck. Choose PC if local split-screen is a requirement; Steam Deck support refers to playing the game, not every PC feature.
