Baldur’s Gate 3 limits an unmodded adventuring party to four characters. To bring more companions along, players can use the third-party Party Limit Begone mod, but installation depends on the particular release and its compatibility with your game patch. Its multiplayer setup is separate from the standard installation, and co-op players must coordinate their mods and versions.
What Party Limit Begone changes
The game’s standard party limit is four, as documented in the BG3 Modding reference for SetMaxPartySizeOverride. Party Limit Begone is a third-party mod intended to raise that limit so you can travel with more companions.
Do not assume a particular maximum for every version or setup. Larian has reported seeing community mods that adjusted the limit from four to sixteen, but that is a community example—not a guaranteed cap for Party Limit Begone or every platform. Larian’s Community Update 29 provides that context.
Install Party Limit Begone on PC
The mod’s Nexus page describes a route using Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager and Script Extender. Because installation steps and dependencies can change between releases, use the instructions attached to the specific file you download on the live mod page.

- Set up Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager.
- In the manager’s Tools menu, install Script Extender.
- Import the Party Limit Begone archive into the manager.
- Activate the mod in your load order and save the order.
- Check the instructions for your selected release and game patch before launching.
The mod page also describes a distinct multiplayer-patch route that involves applying a patch to the game executable. Do not treat that as an automatic part of the standard installation: consult the instructions for the release you are using, and do not assume multiplayer will work without the required patch.
Check game-patch and platform compatibility
Party Limit Begone’s compatibility is tied to game patches supported by Script Extender. The available information does not establish a current compatibility matrix for every game patch and platform, so check the mod’s file notes and author updates against your installed version before installing. A game update or a conflict with another mod can disrupt third-party mods or affect stability; Larian discusses those limits in its Community Update 27.

Larian’s official in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit are a separate modding route. Patch 7 introduced those tools for PC, and the official browser supports mods on platforms where they are available. The evidence does not establish that Party Limit Begone is listed in that browser. Larian says console and Mac browser releases are limited to qualifying mods made with the Toolkit, uploaded, and internally tested; a third-party listing should not be assumed to have a console or Mac version. Increasing the companion party limit and increasing the number of human players are different things. Party Limit Begone has a separate multiplayer-patch path; follow the instructions for your exact release rather than assuming the ordinary mod setup is enough.

Every participant in a modded multiplayer session needs the same mods at the same version. Larian’s Official Mod Support FAQ specifies that players need “the exact same mods installed, and they must be on the same version.” This matching requirement does not guarantee that any particular number of additional human players will work.
If resting at camp causes a problem
The Party Limit Begone page offers a workaround for a reported camp-rest issue with an expanded party. It advises trying one of these options:
- Use an awake companion to speak with Lae’zel.
- Use the camp chest.
- Reduce the active party to four before resting.
These are the mod page’s troubleshooting suggestions; check its current instructions if the issue persists.
