To rescue Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3, find her in Moonrise Towers Prison after Ketheric Thorm’s judgment, intervene before the questioners erase her mind, and escort her out of the prison. Do it before killing Ketheric: Larian’s Patch 5 notes say Minthara dies if she is left in the prison after his death.
Where to find Minthara
Minthara must survive Act One to appear at Moonrise Towers. After Ketheric sentences her to death, follow the scene’s events to Moonrise Towers Prison. She is there with questioners who are trying to erase her mind; choose to intervene rather than assist them. The BG3 Wiki’s rescue quest reference describes this sequence.

How to get Minthara out of the prison
- Tell the questioners you will handle Minthara. This gives you a chance to speak with her directly.
- Persuade Minthara to play along. Work with her rather than leaving her to the questioners.
- Resolve the confrontation. Convince the questioners to stand down or defeat them. Minthara can join the fight as an ally.
- Escort her through the prison and continue the escape conversation outside. The rescue is not complete just because the torture-room encounter is over; make sure the conversation and quest progress to bringing her outside Moonrise.
The prison’s outer-lobby guards may become involved if they detect the party. The prison reference notes that a check-based option can placate guards and that noise contained within the torture room does not alert the outer-lobby guards. If you choose combat, try to keep the fight inside that room.
Choose a dialogue, stealth, or combat approach

The best fit depends on whether the guards are already alerted and how much risk you want to take with detection or combat. The game’s quest reference confirms these broad options, but does not establish a universally guaranteed route.

Rescue her before killing Ketheric
Do not leave Minthara in the prison until after Ketheric’s death. Larian’s official Patch 5 notes state: “Minthara now dies when left alive in the prison after Ketheric has been killed.” Complete the prison escape first.

Larian documented fixes for Minthara’s escape-from-Moonrise dialogue flow in its final patch notes. The studio also noted in its Patch 7 notes that it addressed an issue where post-rescue dialogue could fail to trigger and interfere with resting or fast travel. Those fixes show that these problems were addressed; they do not guarantee that every existing save is free of quest bugs.

If you have won the encounter but the rescue does not progress, check that you continued the conversation with Minthara and brought her outside Moonrise. If a dialogue or travel problem persists, reload a save from before the escape and try completing the sequence again.
