In Baldur’s Gate 3, the secret room is beneath the Act I Toll House on the Risen Road, near Karlach. Enter through the house’s Ornate Wood Hatch, reach the cellar vault with the Toll Collector’s Key, then activate both stone chairs to open the hidden wall. This is not the separate Reithwin Tollhouse in Act II.
Where to find the Risen Road Toll House
From the Blighted Village area, follow the Risen Road north and cross the bridge toward Karlach. The Toll House is nearby. If you have already visited the area, the Risen Road waypoint is a convenient return point.
Inside the building, look for the Ornate Wood Hatch and use it to enter the cellar.
How to get into the cellar vault
Find the Toll Collector’s Key
Search the path south of the Toll House, along the rocks downhill from the building, for the Toll Collector’s Key. It opens the locked eastern door in the cellar. You can also use Speak with Dead on the tax collector outside to learn about the dropped key, but you do not need that conversation to find it.

Navigate the traps
The vault area contains vent traps, with more hazards beyond. Look for traps and disarm them where possible, or move carefully around them. The secure storage room itself has a marble plate and two vents; disarm those before looting.
How to open the hidden door
In the room just before the secure storage, find the two stone chairs. Both must be activated for the wall to open.

| Method | What to do | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Use party members | Have two companions sit in the chairs. | You have two available characters and want the direct solution. |
| Use objects | Place sufficiently heavy objects, such as vases, on both chairs. | You would rather not use party members for the mechanism. |
Either method triggers the same mechanism. Once both chairs are occupied or weighted, the hidden wall opens.
Alternative route to the vault
If you cannot or do not want to use the key, a more specialized route described by Gamer Guides uses the eastern Burrow Hole. It requires Mage Hand or a small character affected by Reduce, so it involves more setup than finding the key and unlocking the door.

What is in the secret room?
Guides list a Greataxe +1 and Gloves of Heroism among the room’s loot, alongside gold, gems, and other items. The exact gold total is not reliable to promise: Larian’s Patch 1 notes record that more gold was added to the Risen Road Toll House treasure. The room remains trapped, so take care after opening the wall and before collecting anything.
