There is no official, settled ranking of the 23 best multiclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian presents multiclassing as an optional way to customize a character, while published tier lists are editorial judgments. The strongest combinations depend on what you want the character to do, and the available published examples do not establish a complete, comparable 23-build ranking.
Here are the combinations that can be grounded in the cited guides and developer commentary, plus what Patch 8 changes for anyone choosing a build.
What makes a multiclass “best”?
A useful ranking needs to weigh more than peak damage. A build may be strong in combat but come online late, rely heavily on resources or specific equipment, or give up valuable progression in its main class. A character built for ranged attacks, frontline durability, spellcasting or utility outside combat also cannot be judged by a single damage-first scale.
That is why published rankings should be read as recommendations, not game-wide verdicts. Mobalytics describes its list as the combinations its authors “feel are the most powerful and compelling”; PC Gamer likewise presents its own multiclass guide in a Patch 8 context. Neither source establishes an official universal order.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Patch 8 added new subclass choices
Larian’s Patch 8 announcement added one subclass for each of the game’s 12 classes: Path of the Giant Barbarian, College of Glamour Bard, Death Domain Cleric, Circle of Stars Druid, Arcane Archer Fighter, Way of the Drunken Master Monk, Oath of the Crown Paladin, Swarmkeeper Ranger, Swashbuckler Rogue, Shadow Magic Sorcerer, Hexblade Warlock and Bladesinging Wizard. Those options broaden the combinations players can consider; they do not, by themselves, prove that any one multiclass is best. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement.
Strong combinations identified by published guides
The combinations below are examples named by Mobalytics, not an official tier list. The cited material does not provide a consistent level split, milestone-by-milestone progression, or comparable test results for every build, so those details are not presented as settled facts.

1. Battle Master Fighter / Wildheart Barbarian
Mobalytics includes this pairing among its compelling multiclasses. It combines two martial class identities; the guide’s inclusion supports treating it as a candidate for players interested in a martial hybrid, not as proof of a particular damage ranking or level split. Mobalytics’ multiclass ranking.
2. Sword Bard / Battle Master Fighter / Assassin Rogue
This three-class combination also appears in Mobalytics’ examples. It offers a more specialized blend of class roles than a two-class pairing, but the cited ranking does not establish its optimal level allocation or how its performance compares under a specific difficulty, party composition or equipment setup. Rank #3

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
3. Hand Monk / Berserker Barbarian
Mobalytics names this combination as another option. It is a martial pairing for readers drawn to a Monk-and-Barbarian character concept; the source does not provide a verified split or a controlled comparison with other builds. Mobalytics’ multiclass ranking.
4. Oathbreaker Paladin / Fighter
This pairing appears in Mobalytics’ examples of powerful or compelling combinations. Its placement is an editorial recommendation, not an official power ranking, and the cited material does not establish one best distribution of levels between the classes. Mobalytics’ multiclass ranking.

5. Battle Master Fighter / Abjuration Wizard
Mobalytics also identifies this Fighter-and-Wizard hybrid. It may appeal to players who want a martial-and-magic character, but a label alone is not enough to determine its progression costs or suitability for a particular party. Check the build guide’s assumptions before copying a level split. Mobalytics’ multiclass ranking.

In a September 27, 2023 PlayStation.Blog article reporting Larian developer commentary, Rogue/Ranger was described as the most popular multiclass at that time, followed by Barbarian/Fighter. That is a historical popularity observation—not current player-population data, a measured performance result or a power ranking. The article does not supply a sample size or measurement method. PlayStation.Blog’s 2023 report.

The same article mentions the Spellsparkler in connection with build-up charges and extra lightning damage. It is in-game equipment, not a separate product players need to buy; the article’s mention is not evidence that every multiclass requires it. PlayStation.Blog’s developer-build article.
How to choose among multiclass guides
- Check the patch framing. Prefer a guide that explicitly says it covers Patch 8 and beyond, such as PC Gamer’s multiclass guide. A guide’s patch label is useful context, but it does not validate every build detail independently.
- Look for an exact level split. A class pairing by itself is not a complete build. Confirm that the guide explains when to take each level and what the character gains or delays along the way.
- Match the build to your party and playstyle. Rankings can shift with difficulty, party role, player familiarity and access to equipment. A list’s placement is not a guarantee that a build will suit your run.
- Treat experimentation as optional. Larian framed multiclassing as character customization and a way to experiment with class hybrids, not as a required route to an effective character. Its Community Update #21 introduced the feature in those terms.
Why this is not a defensible 23-place ranking
The cited sources support Patch 8 context, several named examples and Larian’s dated popularity observation. They do not provide a fully comparable set of 23 builds with exact splits, progression milestones and evidence for ordering them. Filling the gaps with a supposedly definitive numbered list would imply a level of verification these sources do not establish. For practical build planning, use a current guide that spells out its subclass and level assumptions, then judge the result by the role you want the character to fill.
