Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 launched on PC on September 5, 2024, bringing new cinematic endings for villainous playthroughs, an in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit, dynamic split-screen co-op, and changes to Honour Mode. The initial announcement said console and Mac versions would follow; Larian later reported those rollouts on October 1, 2024.
When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 come out?
Larian announced Patch 7 as live for PC on September 5, 2024. Console and Mac players did not receive the update at the same time: Larian’s announcement initially said those versions would follow after technical checks, then its October 1 update reported that Patch 7 was rolling out to console and Mac. Larian’s Patch 7 announcement was later edited to reflect the broader rollout; the dated Community Update #29 provides the October timing.

The earlier PC closed beta, announced July 22, 2024, was a separate test: it was limited to Steam and unavailable on console, Mac, or GOG. Larian said then that a public release was expected in September. That beta restriction should not be confused with the eventual public availability of Patch 7.
What did Patch 7 add?
The update’s most visible additions were new evil ending cinematics, official modding features, and dynamic split screen for local co-op. It also changed Honour Mode encounters and included a broad set of fixes and improvements across cinematics, performance, stability, interface, multiplayer, tooltips, character creation, and gameplay.

What are the new evil ending cinematics?
Patch 7 added new cinematic endings for “the truly villainous playthroughs,” as Larian described them in its release announcement. These scenes are ending content for villainous routes, not a claim that every possible ending received a new cinematic. Larian had also said the improved evil endings would be available to players who were not playing as the Dark Urge.
Spoiler note: The details of specific ending scenes are intentionally omitted here. If you want to encounter them unspoiled, avoid searching for scene descriptions or watching ending clips before finishing your run.
How does the in-game Mod Manager work?
Patch 7 introduced an in-game Mod Manager for browsing, installing, and using community-created mods, alongside Larian’s Toolkit for creating mods. Larian said supported mods were intended to improve compatibility and accessibility, with console support to follow. The manager is a convenient way to discover and manage mods supported within the game; it is not a guarantee that every community mod is available or will work with every setup.
In a later official post, Larian cautioned that some popular mods might not be available through the in-game manager. It also warned users not to use the Toolkit to port or recreate another mod author’s work without permission. Check whether a mod is listed and supported before planning a playthrough around it, and consult the relevant author’s instructions for requirements or compatibility notes. See Larian’s mod support and guidelines for its guidance.

Patch 7’s mod activity figures are historical, not current totals: on October 1, 2024, Larian said players had uploaded more than 1,000 mods and recorded more than 15 million downloads since the PC release. Those numbers describe activity as of that dated update and do not establish present-day totals.

In local co-op, the two players’ views merge into one screen when their characters move close together, then split again as they move apart. Larian described this dynamic view as part of a revamped split-screen experience. Patch 7 also included other co-op and multiplayer fixes, including corrections to cinematic and split-screen problems; it did not mean every multiplayer issue was resolved.

What changed in Honour Mode?
Patch 7 added combat changes to Honour Mode encounters, including new Legendary Actions for several bosses. The full release notes list the encounter-specific changes; they are not a single general difficulty toggle.
Separately, the update lets players use Honour Mode mechanics in a Custom Mode run. Larian’s beta preview said to select the Honour Mode ruleset from the Custom Mode Ruleset dropdown. That option applies the mechanics to a Custom Mode game; it is distinct from starting a full Honour Mode run.
What other fixes were included?
The patch notes cover a wide range of refinements rather than only headline features. Examples Larian highlighted include a reworked Ansur cutscene, polished facial expressions in companion dialogue, performance work in areas with many non-player characters, and fixes affecting split-screen and multiplayer. The scope spans several parts of the game, so these examples should not be read as an exhaustive list or a promise that all bugs were fixed.
For the complete change list, consult the official Patch 7 notes.
