When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 come out?
Larian announced a September release plan on June 3, 2024, then released Patch 7 for PC on September 5. At launch, Larian said console and Mac versions would take longer because of technical checks. On September 19, the studio said those players could expect the update soon; PlayStation Blog reported PS5 availability on October 1, 2024, and Larian’s announcement was later updated to say the rollout had reached console and Mac players.

That staggered schedule explains the original “this week” headline: it was written around the PC release, not as a promise that every platform would receive the update at the same time.
What did Patch 7 add?
Larian highlighted several major additions, alongside gameplay fixes. Its pre-release summary described the update as containing “over 1,000 fixes and improvements”; that was the studio’s description, not an independently audited count. How did Patch 7’s mod tools work?
Patch 7 introduced Larian’s in-game Mod Manager for supported mods and a separate Toolkit for creating mods. Larian’s support FAQ says the Toolkit can be downloaded through Steam on PC. In the in-game interface, a supported mod may show an Update control when an update is available.
The in-game manager is not a directory of every mod made for the game. Larian cautioned: “Not all of your favourite mods may be available to install in-game, and it’s important to note that attempting to port or recreate another person’s mods using the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit is not permitted.” Check the FAQ and the mod’s own instructions for availability and compatibility details.
What should players know about platform and save compatibility?
During the Patch 7 rollout, Larian’s support FAQ warned that PC and console saves would not be compatible across different game versions. That was a warning about version mismatches during the historical rollout; it should not be treated as a statement about present-day save compatibility. Current compatibility depends on the versions involved, so check Larian’s current support information before moving a save between platforms.
