Larian released it on PC on September 5, 2024, then rolled it out to console and Mac on October 1, 2024. It was a free game update, not a separate purchase.
What Patch 7 added
New endings for evil playthroughs
Larian added cinematic endings for villainous playthroughs. The patch notes include story spoilers, so the details are best left unopened if you have not finished the game. Larian’s Patch 7 notes flag spoiler-sensitive entries.
Official mod browsing and a separate Toolkit
Patch 7 introduced an in-game Mod Manager for browsing, installing, enabling, and disabling supported community mods. It also brought a separate Toolkit for people who want to create mods. Larian describes the Toolkit as a free Steam application for PC; it is not required to install supported mods through the in-game manager. Patch 7’s release notes introduce both tools, while the Official Mod Support FAQ explains the Toolkit and its requirements.
Split-screen now merges dynamically
In split-screen play, the two views merge into one when the player characters approach each other and separate again as they move apart. This changes how local co-op displays the game; it is not a new multiplayer mode.

Honour Mode combat changes
Patch 7 added new Legendary Actions and other combat changes for Honour Mode. Players can also use Honour Mode mechanics in a Custom Mode ruleset, allowing them to select those rules without choosing the full Honour Mode experience. More than 1,000 fixes and improvements
In its July 22, 2024 preview, Larian said the patch would include “over 1,000 fixes and improvements.” That is the studio’s preview figure, not a precise count of fixes independently verified here. Larian’s July 2024 Patch 7 preview also outlined the headline features.

Patch 7 release dates by platform

For supported community mods, use the in-game Mod Manager to browse and manage them. The separate Toolkit is for creating mods, not a prerequisite for playing with supported mods. Larian calls it a free Steam application and lists it as PC-only. Its FAQ says it requires a 64-bit PC and 160 GB of available storage.

The Official Mod Support FAQ lists the Toolkit details, multiplayer mod-matching rule, and cross-save qualification.
Should you buy anything to get Patch 7?
No separate purchase is needed for Patch 7: it was released as a game update. Larian identifies Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition as an edition of the game, but its FAQ does not make that edition a requirement for the patch. If you do not own the game and are considering a copy, check that any listing matches your platform and region.
