Zethino’s Dryad’s Love Test in Baldur’s Gate 3 asks three questions about a companion, and the correct choices depend on whom you bring. The answers below are the options recorded as correct for the test; they do not always increase approval. Lae’zel, Shadowheart, and Wyll also have story-dependent answers, and Minthara’s first answer has conflicting guide records.

How Zethino’s test works

You can find Zethino at the Circus of the Last Days in Act Three, beneath a large tree near the center of the grounds (approximately X:-58, Y:-55). The encounter is a three-question test about a companion. The companion does not have to be your current romance, but must be romanceable; Jaheira and Minsc refuse to participate. The listed participants are Astarion, Gale, Halsin, Karlach, Lae’zel, Minthara, Shadowheart, and Wyll.

Two correct answers earn a more positive reaction, while all three earn the companion’s praise. This is an approval interaction, not a romance-progression check: it does not advance or break a romance. Some responses that count as correct can still lower approval, so choose based on whether you want to pass the test or please your companion. Zethino may also be Orin in disguise; the real Zethino can be encountered if Orin has already revealed herself twice.

Astarion’s answers

  1. When is he happiest? “When he’s elbow-deep in gore.”
  2. What does he desire more than anything? “Freedom.” or “Revenge.” The romantic “Me” option is available if you are romancing him and gives approval, but is not marked correct for the test.
  3. What is his deepest fear? “Breaking a nail.” or “Forever feeling like a slave to someone else.” Both are marked correct, though their approval effects differ.

Gale’s answers

  1. If the wizard were given the choice, what food would he be? “A shiny red apple – wholesome as can be.” or “A roast onion – versatile, with hidden layers.”
  2. When is Gale happiest? “While on his balcony in Waterdeep.”
  3. What is his greatest flaw? “He thinks that he, and the world, might be better off if he were dead.”

Halsin’s answers

  1. When is he most comfortable? “While in the form of a bear, clad in nothing but fur.” or “Comfort doesn’t come naturally to him – he’s restless and roaming.”
  2. Of what is Halsin most proud? “Saving his friend Thaniel and banishing the shadow curse.” or “Protecting his grove from those who threatened it.”
  3. What is his greatest failure? “Appointing a fanatic second-in-command at the grove.” or “Allowing the shadow curse to blight nature for a hundred years.”

Karlach’s answers

  1. Who does she loathe above all others? “Zariel.” or “Gortash.”
  2. What is her idea of a perfect day? “Bashing baddies interspersed with victory sex.”
  3. Where will she be a decade from now? “Probably dead.” or “Settled down in a quiet village with a nice partner and a few kids.”

Lae’zel’s answers

  1. What does she most desire? The correct choice changes depending on whether Lae’zel has rejected Vlaakith. The available answer wording is not established in the recorded answer list summarized here, so there is no reliable exact option to quote.
  2. What is the githyanki’s fondest memory? “Tearing the limbs from the beasts of the Sea of Night.” or “Spilling her own cousins’ blood.” A secondary guide also lists “Our night together” as an alternate romantic response, but it is not marked correct in the wiki answer excerpt.
  3. Legacy question: The answer depends on her stance toward Vlaakith. A secondary guide lists “She will live in perpetuity as a kith’rak atop a red dragon” if she has not rejected Vlaakith, and “She will be known as a liberator of the Githyanki people” if she has. It also lists “A vicious monster of legend, feared across the planes” as acceptable.

Minthara’s answers

  1. First question: A secondary guide calls “Picking off her siblings one by one” its best answer and lists “Spiced Ulaver wine and thinly sliced rothé steak” as acceptable. The BG3 Wiki excerpt marks the sibling-killing choice wrong, so the sources conflict; this answer cannot be stated as definitive.
  2. Who does Minthara admire the most? A secondary guide lists “Me” and “The gods” as its best choices, and “Nobody” as acceptable. The answer table excerpt does not show this question, so treat these as secondary-source guidance.
  3. What is the worst thing your love has ever done? “Let herself be captured by the cult of the Absolute.”

Shadowheart’s answers

  1. What brings her comfort on a dark night? A secondary guide lists “Good company and an even better vintage” and “The night itself” as strongest choices. If she has stopped worshipping Shar, it also lists “The knowledge that she can change, just as sure as night will give way to day” as acceptable.
  2. What earns her respect? A secondary guide lists “Being discreet” as the strongest response, with “Showing shrewd judgment” and “Being kind to animals” also acceptable.
  3. What is her deepest fear? Wiki-marked correct choices include “She doesn’t know who she is, or where she belongs” and “She can’t swim.” “Failing her goddess when it counted the most” is correct only if Shadowheart has abandoned Shar worship. “Sacrificing an innocent for her own ambitions” is also marked correct, though it may not prompt a reaction.

Wyll’s answers

  1. What, on his darkest day, would make him smile? “Memories of our first night getting to know each other” or “A flagon of ale.”
  2. Who does the Blade most admire? “His father, Ulder Ravengard” or “Balduran, the great hero of Baldur’s Gate.”
  3. What is Wyll’s greatest regret? The answer depends on Karlach’s fate. If Karlach is dead, “Killing Karlach” is a conditional option. If she is alive, a secondary guide lists “Losing his father” as a best answer. “Leaving behind his father – and his city” is also listed as a conditional answer.
