The BALL x PIT Regal Update launched on January 26, 2026. It was first forecast for January as part of the game’s planned 2026 update schedule, but that window became a confirmed date when the developer announced the launch. The update is free for BALL x PIT owners and adds two characters, eight balls, new passives, Endless Mode, and six language options.
When did the Regal Update come out?
The Regal Update is already released; it is not an upcoming update. On December 2, 2025, the developer’s 2026 roadmap placed it in January, alongside planned April and July updates. On January 19, the developer announced January 26 as the launch date. Kenny Sun’s January 26 PlayStation Blog post said the update was releasing that day, and the official Steam announcement subsequently marked it available.
The original roadmap gave month-long windows, not final dates. Later notices recorded The Shadow Update’s release on April 27, 2026, and The Naturalist Update’s release on August 6, rather than the July window forecast for it. Those releases put the Regal date in context: January 26 is the confirmed historical launch date, not a current estimate.
What does the Regal Update add?
Two playable characters
- The Falconer attacks with balls launched by two birds flanking the screen, creating a wide spread.
- The Carouser uses a personal gravity field to alter ball trajectories.
Eight new balls
The announcements highlight Banished Flame, Fireworks, Stone Ball, Brimstone Ball, and Landslide among the eight additions. Fireworks scatter damage in unpredictable patterns; Stone Ball deals heavy impact damage but crumbles as it bounces; and Landslide sends a cascading debris wave around its first impact.

New passive items
Named additions include Deadeye’s Impaler, Grotesque Artillery, and Iron Onesie. Deadeye’s Impaler supports critical-hit play and can instantly kill non-boss enemies; Grotesque Artillery triggers a random equipped ball; and Iron Onesie increases special-ball damage based on the number of baby balls in play.
Endless Mode
After defeating a level’s boss, players can choose to continue deeper into the pit. The run continues as long as they survive and keep choosing to proceed.

Six additional languages
The update adds Spanish (Latin America), Polish, Italian, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

The update is free for BALL x PIT owners; it is not a separately paid product. According to the official Steam announcement, content unlocks through game progression. Players who had already beaten the game should find everything unlocked except blueprints, which still have to be found in levels. The official Steam store page provides current base-game ownership and storefront information.
